At Snowy Village, we’re all about Korean shaved ice, aka Bingsoo, Bingsu, or Patbingsu. What makes ours stand out? Our snow base is made from milk, giving it a light, subtly sweet taste that hits the spot. We kicked things off in 2019 with our first spot in the U District, and since then, we’ve been spreading the bingsoo love everywhere. Our goal? To create a spot where you can chill, dream big, and enjoy some seriously good bingsoo vibes.

I usually go to the Renton location, but this Federal Way store’s “mini” size is not only smaller, it’s also more expensive. Many items on the menu were not available – mango, green tea, and watermelon were all listed but couldn’t be ordered, which was quite disappointing.

Most importantly, the red bean didn’t taste fresh at all and was overly sweet, I assume the extra sugar is used to preserve it. I actually got a bad diarrhea afterward. I really love bingsoo, but I couldn’t even finish this one because it just tasted bad.

There are so many other options in Federal Way. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this location.

A friend recommend that I try this spot out and I luckily have had a chance to try them at The Taste NW last year, though I only got a lychee lemonade. My boyfriend and I just had a good meal and wanted to get dessert nearby so I asked if he wanted to try out Snowy Village for some bingsoo. I appreciate the different options for bingsoos as usually there are only a few at many locations. Additionally, they have different sizes so if you do end up having to tackle it solo or with one other person then you have the option of doing so.

They have a water station which I think is nice so you can refresh yourself or have something to sip while waiting for your order. They have lots of tables and chairs for you either sit alone at or with others. The space seems to go for a minimalistic vibe with chill music playing. The service was decent, it seemed like there was only one female employee working so she was in charge of dealing with everything. She greeted us, asked us how our day was and to have a nice day. It took some time to receive our order, even though we were the only ones but it seemed like she has a good grove for when there are more multiple orders as she was able to make four within a good amount of time for two separate parties.

We got the piggy bar and I didn’t know it also came with sliced strawberries. It was a nice touch but definitely wished there was a bit more. I definitely want to come back to try out their drinks and taiyakis, as well as other bingsoo flavors. Glad to have them at Federal Way as we definitely needed more bingsoo spots!

Visited Snowy Village in Federal Way with my son to enjoy a treat, and we ordered the mango Bingsu. The store is brand new with a clean, modern interior that I personally liked. There is plenty of parking available, which made the visit convenient. We were the only customers at the time, so service was fast and attentive. The restrooms were spotless, which I always appreciate when visiting with kids. The mango Bingsu was a bit pricey, but totally worth it to see my son enjoy it. But one thing to note is, it is a messy dessert, especially for little ones. I might recommend some wet whites for customers?

We ordered the cheesecake, taro and mango bingsu and the custard taiyaki. Appreciated the strong fruit flavors coming through….yum! Couldn’t give five stars because 1) waited a loooonnngg time for our order (tables were all full but still, almost 20 minutes?) and 2) they have some weird vip subscription thing instead of a regular loyalty punchcard. Too much. The vibe is cool and upbeat – there’s real potential if they can tweak their time better!

Not the prettiest picture because I had already eaten half of it but oh, my was it freaking delicious. Would be 5 stars but it was an awkward atmosphere, maybe it was under construction?, and also the woman working (owner possibly) wasn’t personable or friendly. It was still delicious and would go again though.

Visited over the weekend since we were in the mood for Korean Bingsoo. This cafe is fairly new since I looked on their social media page and it just opened a few months ago.

We got oreo and biscoff in the lite size along with a bacon & cheese taiyaki. Service was quick and the food was great! The Bingsoo not being too sweet and the right amount of everything. The taiyaki had melty cheese and the bacon was a good amount as well too.

On the way out we did some to go orders and they really pack on the amount of toppings. Service was quick plus the staff were friendly and patient. Price wise is about right. I recommend getting the lite size since it’s already a lot but they have 2 bigger sizes as well.

Flavors here are pretty good and at a good level of sweetness. Our food took longer than expected to come out even though the place was basically empty.

The shaved ice itself though is presented in a way that is completely impractical to eat. See photos for the before and after. It’s impossible to eat it without making a mess. It’s stacked so high that any attempt at scooping the dessert will topple the toppings. We had to grab multiple plastic water cups to move some of the shaved ice to make this thing eatable.

When you finally can figure out how to eat it, the strawberry oreo shaved iced is very pleasant. Unfortunately, the strawberries are layered on top of the shaved ice in such a way that you can’t really get a scoop of everything without a lot of it ending up on the tray. They really should consider switching to chunks. Or a wider bowl.

The sesame flavor was also pretty good. Though the sesame dust they used is really quite dry. Almost sawdust like consistency which also detracted from the experience.

The foods is good and the presentation is lovely, until you stick a spoon into it and then it’s likely to crumble right over the side of the cup. The idea is great, but it just seems half baked. Hopefully, they will improve the bowl and improve the look and feel of the restaurant to feel more complete and inviting. Definitely worth trying though!
