But the real star of the night was the Cajun pasta. Hands down the best Cajun pasta I’ve ever had. The noodles were fresh, the sauce was creamy without being heavy, perfectly cheesy, and the sausage took it over the top. Absolutely incredible. I’m already planning my return just for that dish. Also had a beautiful cocktail that was just as good.
If you’re a pasta lover, do yourself a favor and get the Cajun pasta—you won’t regret it.

Visiting New Orleans for the Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage, I wanted something more authentic than the typical hotel dining options and Snapper’s Seafood Restaurant delivered exactly that.
This small, cozy restaurant sits right along Canal Street and ended up being the perfect spot for a late-night meal. I ordered the Cajun Pasta ($22) while my guest had the Blackened Redfish ($26) served with green beans and potato salad (both listed as complimentary sides on the receipt). The Cajun Pasta came out piping hot, creamy, seasoned perfectly, and topped generously with shredded parmesan. The portions were impressive and the flavor had that unmistakable New Orleans kick.
The Blackened Redfish was beautifully seasoned with a rich crust, served over fresh greens, and cooked exactly right not dry, not overly spicy, just that perfect blackened balance. The green beans and mashed potatoes on the side were fresh, hot, and well-prepared. Every plate that came out looked like it belonged on the menu board outside.
Cajun Pasta – $22
Blackened Redfish – $26
Sales Tax (10.995%) – $5.28
Total: $53.28
The only minor issue during the visit was the table being slightly uneven, rocking a bit while we ate. It didn’t ruin the experience by any means the food absolutely made up for it.
The restaurant itself is small inside, but that added to the charm. Between the nighttime street activity, people-watching through the windows, and the warm atmosphere, it felt like a true New Orleans experience.
I would definitely return the next time I’m in the city. Great food, great location, and a memorable dining experience.
We were served by Max who I think may be singlehandedly keeping this place in business. He gave us the same three recommendations people leave reviews about. I had the seafood pasta and the gumbo. Both were solid considering I didn’t want to be there in the first place. My dining companions and I were all happy enough with our meals and the price we paid.
Max was a consummate professional. We were a bit of a rowdy bunch and he took great care of us, replacing some onion rings that weren’t great, keeping wine glasses filled, making jokes and subtly directing us away from what I’m pretty sure were poor menu items and emphatically towards what I now gather are the only good dishes this place serves.
Cannot stress enough how great the service was at this otherwise mediocre place.
Thanks Max for making this dinner more than bearable for me!
Luckily there were not many diners as there were in the earlier afternoon when we walked by.
We ordered fried alligator, Cajun calamari, red beans and rice, crawfish etouffee, onion rings and charbroiled oyster.
My spouse enjoyed the alligator and I could not stomach the taste nor the thought of what it was. We both agreed that the cheese on the oysters were excessive that it took away from the oysters themselves. We did not enjoy it with the cheese but we removed it and it was quite taste without.
The squid was so fresh and delicious, I could eat some now.
Everything else was well prepared and worth having again.
The service was quick and simple, our server was polite and was always working. Thank you for charging my phone.
Glad I stopped by because I now know what I like as a first timer to New Orleans.
snapper. It was a very good $19 meal. The problem was they charge $29 for it. The side of potato salad was top notch. But the snapper was overcooked, and the creamy crawfish sauce lacked the butter, heavy cream and stock (or white wine) base you would expect from a dish like this. I had seafood pasta: the protein was crayfish and shrimp. I don’t know, maybe they were sea crayfish? I think they should have had something else from the sea? I dont know, that’s just me. I will say the drinks were potent, which helped, and the server and the music was nice.
The seafood platter was amazing! The fried oysters WOW! absolutely delicious. We ordered the trio with gumbo, beans and rice, and crawfish étouffée. I never thought beans and rice could be that good! The gumbo was very flavourful as well.
The crawfish étouffée was a bit bland for my taste. It was missing some seasoning and salt. Other than that, everything was amazing! I would come back just for the beans and rice and the gumbo.
I forgot to take photos and I only took two.
