This little local gem is located in Bolivar, WV just up the hill from historic Harper’s Ferry on Washington Street. It has an amazingly delicious menu that I can’t wait to “break in”. They sell local beer, wine and spirits in a cozy and lovingly renovated historical building. A dozen plus various sized tables dot the original hard wood floor with intimate spaces to accommodate solo travelers, couples and larger groups. There are two separate bar areas as well. The friendly staff and warm and welcoming atmosphere beckon your repeat attendance. This is one of those adorable little places you want to share with your visitors from out of town. I mean, who doesn’t love a name like Snallygaster. Enough said, get your tush in here as soon as you can!

We got to Snallygaster’s at 10:30 on a Saturday and had plenty of seating, which was a nice surprise . The space is honest and inviting. Old wood floors, cozy tables, warm lighting, wine shelves everywhere. It feels historic but comfortable. Relaxing without being sleepy. The ambiance was completely on point.
The drinks were so good. My latte was delicious and beautifully done, and the blackberry cocktail with fresh lime was refreshing and perfectly balanced. Not overly sweet, just crisp and clean. They have great hot, cold, and alcoholic options, so whatever mood you’re in, you’re covered.
The food did not disappoint. Well done, flavorful potatoes with peppers, creamy avocado, crumbled cheese, and that green sauce pulled everything together. Fresh, well seasoned, and satisfying without feeling heavy.
I really appreciated the gluten free options and hope they expand those even more in the future. The menu feels thoughtfully balanced. Enough variety to be interesting but not overwhelming.
Overall it was just a great brunch experience. Relaxed atmosphere, delicious drinks, solid food. We’ll absolutely be back.

I love this restaurant! The food is outstanding and the food choices are creative and unique. My wife had the beef pot roast with risotto and I had the egg and chicken Caesar salad. Caesar salad is one of my all time favorite foods and they did a fantastic job with the chicken being very flavorful. The beef pot roast with risotto was delicious and my wife enjoyed it very much (I also got to try it and was blown away by the taste). We took advantage of their cocktail menu and talented bartenders to have some fantastic drinks to accompany our meals. The restaurant has all kinds of groovy old time artifacts to make for a cool vibe. The staff is made up of friendly locals who are there to make sure you have a great experience. I highly recommend this restaurant. My wife and I left there with grins from ear to ear. I know that sounds impossible but I assure In that for a period of time it happened!

They were out of chicken, lamb meatballs, ice cream and the special. My husband got a beet salad. Not enough beets walnuts or feta in the salad. Come to think of it…. There was not enough lettuce either! How can you be out of ice cream! That affects 3 out of four of their desserts!

Laid back Breakfast/brunch place with a well stocked bar.
Menu options are not huge but sufficient. Lovely wait staff. Delicious food (too bad all of us had drives ahead of us and couldn’t indulge in the cocktails). Large selection of draft beers and really good desserts. If you are in the area, this place is a must go for breakfasts and I would recommend trying their dinner menu too (which we didn’t but the options looked really good).

Went on a two week trip to the US visiting NYC, DC, VA, MD and DE. Snallygaster’s Cafe and Wine Bar was hands down the best restaurant I visited. Had no idea about the place but it was one of the few places open near Haper’s Ferry after a long day trip. Place was casual and unassuming but very homey. Servers were pleasant, knowledgeable and seemed happy to be there. Had the Crab Cake with Orzo special and Pulled Pork with Mushroom Risotto. The food was fresh, presented beautifully without being too pretentious and priced really well. Visiting again in June and this is definitely the only restaurant I would come back to.

Located in the little village of Bolivar, West Virginia. Just a stone throw from Harpers Ferry.
The two of us ordered Old Fashions from the build your own ingredient menu. Choices were offered between bourbon & rye and 3 different bitter flavors. The bartender took the time to verify our selection. After a nice chat, the cocktails placed before us had the most delicious blend of ingredients and we each enjoyed one of the best Old Fashion of all time. We arrived at 7pm and unfortunately 2 of the main course menu items were not available due to being sold out. Our next choices of 1. Snally’s Shrimp & Grits and 2. Red Pepper and Pesto were delicious. We did begin the meal with the Bruschetta and it was excellent! We even bought a couple of reasonably priced bottles of wine from the wine shop located at the back of the restaurant. Great overall service and atmosphere.
