Today marks the first bad smoothie I’ve received from Smoothie King. The unfortunate part is that it is a menu item I get quite frequently. This was an item I have never tried before, might’ve just assumed it was a flavor I didn’t like. For reference it was a Slim N Trim Chocolate, and to start with the consistency it was anything but a smoothie. When I arrived I could tell something was off because there was a solid mass to one side of the cup and visible chocolate liquid next to it. I took it anyway and stirred the contents of the cup on my way to the car. Then came the first sip, which I nearly spat out. I was expecting a smooth chocolate taste with a hint of banana undertones. What I received was what I can only describe as chunks of ice mixed with a water/milk mix that had cocoa powder blended in with it. I proceeded to stir some more hoping to better blend it. I stopped trying after ingesting maybe 20% of the smoothie. Chunks of ice that kept blocking/clogging the straw, no hint of banana, and overtly bitter tasting liquid consistency. This attempt feels as though it was rushed, ingredients not portioned right, and not blended nearly long enough.
Will I go back? Yes, though if this becomes more common it is less likely to continue. Service has always been good, and I like the atmosphere. Because this is the first bad smoothie experience out of otherwise really good smoothies, I only dropped the food score to 3 stars, but again I will re-evaluate if this turns out to not be a blue moon experience.
UPDATE: I wanted to give the full benefit of the doubt so I went back to it after the some of the ice melted. It did not improve at all. Imagine bitter watered down chocolate milk with the occasional crunch of ice. And still no banana. ♂️

They are always so welcoming and kind when I come in and they always help me decide what to get by recommending things. I can add to my smoothie that they personally like. My smoothie comes out quick and perfect without failure every single time. This is the best smoothie king I have ever gone to by far. They always leave me with a warm smile and they say that they appreciate me which makes me feel very good and makes me want to come back.

I’m not sure why the rating is 4.4. I’m from out of town in for a medical appointment and am also recovering from a hospital stay. I’m familiar with Smoothie King and hadn’t been to one in awhile. The two ladies working today answered my questions, were very nice, and even said they hoped I feel better. I will definitely be back when in the area. The smoothie hot the spot too!

I love my smoothies every time I come in I am greeted with a smile and they are so fast at making them! I love everything I’ve tried from smoothies to smoothie bowls! The smoothie bowl had fresh fruit on top on the açaí and a generous helping of it too!

It was pretty good. I’ll probably try another smoothie but the bowl here was just that, pretty good…I feel there was something missing. Didn’t taste the freshest. Def. shouldn’t have had the honey on it. Maybe, some chia seeds; that’d be nice.

Always have a good smoothie when I stop in but it’s not often. My last visit the employee (I wish I’d gotten her name) was awesome. She suggested a smoothie I loved when all I gave her to go on was “something sweet” and then when she saw my 3 year old immediately asking me for some of it she offered him his own tiny cup. A really small gesture I’m sure on her part but it really made our day

We consider ourselves Smoothie King aficionados having been to stores all over the United States and this Smoothie King makes consistent and great smoothies. They remember you and start your order as you walk in the door and always try to give you a great smoothie. The manager works hard to keep everything clean and is very detailed in cleaning the blenders which is always nice to see.
