I’m probably going to update this review, as I don’t think I can give a complete review. There’s little info on this store thus far, so I’ll share my experience.
Went there last week. I expected a small menu of smoked meats, something like what Mission BBQ serves. The do serve smoked BBQ pulled (Halal?! lol ) pork dishes as well as ribs, and wings. After that, things get weird. Fried seafood, seafood boil, burgers, Boar’s head deli meat, baked goods, lattes, paninins and breakfast. Menu just seems unfocused and like the owner’s are trying to hedge their bets as if they’re uncertain what will sell there. Seems to be a bit of a cursed spot in the mall. It’s been my experience that restaurants that don’t have a sharp focus on what they sell generally don’t tend to do any of them all that well. But I’ll reserve my judgment on that.
Anyhoo, I ordered the Hawawshi/Egyptian burger. Hawawshi is an Egyptian street food that is basically a wheat pita style bread stuffed with a “kebab” style meat (ground beef, onion, peppers, spices) and then shallow fried in fat/oil. Sometimes cheese is added. It’s kind of like an open faced empanada. The outer shell is supposed to be fried and crispy like pita chips. The order, I received was….well…. unconventional. It was thin beef patty covered in a heavy amount of yogurt/lebneh sauce with lettuce,tomato, american cheese on two wheat silver dollar type pancakes. It was edible, but nothing ilike the traditional hawawshi. Five guys is right across the aisle, and I don’t think these guys will sell a lot of burgers and fries. Fries were frozen, preseasoned, chemically treated fast food stuff. They were cooked in clean oil, and fresh.
I’m a middle aged-american white guy. The Halal pork sign doesn’t offend me, but does me me chuckle and the Egyptian burger isn’t very egyptian. Guys need to stay away from middle eastern/north african stuff.

Very misleading and offensive – this restaurant is called “Smokin Pig BBQ” and clearly serves pork, yet they display a Halal sign. That’s extremely disrespectful to Muslim customers who rely on halal certification to make sure their food follows Islamic dietary laws. The signage should be removed or corrected immediately to avoid deceiving people.
