Nice place ok food. BBQ was reheated dried out but still tasty. Huge portions. Bartender/waiter was a little bit odd. Blank/emotionless seemd like he rather be anywhere but there.

We came because on their website, they say they have smoked prime rib as a special on Friday nights. We got there and suddenly they don’t have it. Should have left then because it went downhill from there. The waitress didn’t know the menu and couldn’t answer questions. We asked if we could have just smoked turkey or if we had to order the combo of meats? What soups do you have? And on and on, and she didn’t know. (BTW, the answer is no) Okay, so we finally ordered food, 2 or 4 adults got beers and were never asked if we wanted a refill. Water for everyone else and getting that refilled was hard. We ordered a whole rack of ribs. The side of beans for 1 they barely put a large table spoon of beans in it. She didn’t offer the soup or salad with the meal, so we spoke up and got charged extra for it? The ribs weren’t very tender, and we’re really dry. Pretzel bites over cooked. Onion rings and sweet potatoes were pretty awesome. Over all though the dinner was not worth the $120 we spent. The liter draft beers were really cold. Save this place for just drinks.

Kind of a small sports bar feel, but without all the TV’s, which is nice. There’s at least one or 2, but it’s minimal. Almost always have good luck here. Most the time if there are issues, it’s due to it being busy, and a bit out of their control. Food has always been very good, no matter what we order. I’m a fan of their smoked brisket and would recommend, but again, so far, everything has been good. Their loaded baked potato soup, which is a house regular, is also very good, and I’d recommend as well. They have a jalapeño ketchup to use with the steak fries if you desire. It’s minimal in spice. Sounds scarier than it is, but gives it a little zip. Try a little and see what you think before going big on it.

Charming bar, great smell walking in on a Saturday afternoon. Was initially concerned based on other lower reviews.
However, our service was prompt and the food came out quickly and was hot. I had the French Dip and it tasted great and the Au Jus was amazing. For my side I did the Chicken Wild Rice soup; it was hearty and seasoned well. I would definitely eat here again.

Our waitress was attentive and nice. The corn nuggets were amazing with their ranch. My husband was not a fan of his pulled pork, dry and lacked the ‘smoked’ flavor. The brisket beef with gravy was good, but also didn’t have that smoked flavor I was hoping for.

Our server was wonderful on the evening we visited. The food was below average and flavorless for a barbecue place.

As we have been trying new places each time we are up here we decided on Smokin Jake’s for lunch. My wife ordered the smoked turkey sandwich with goulash soup, our six year old “Shorty the Foodie” had the same but with fries, and I ordered the rib sampler with cole slaw. My wife and daughter said the turkey was really good, my wife really likes the goulash soup as well. I tried a bite and agreed that the soup was excellent. The ribs were cooked very well and were tender, the BBQ sauce had a tangy but very good flavor and the Cole slaw is homemade. The sauce and bell peppers in the slaw were different but my wife and I agree very well done, in fact we are getting a side of slaw to go. The service was excellent, our waiter did a great job and we were very happy overall. We will definitely eat here again as they have a dinner menu we want to try. Shorty the Foodie gave it five aces.

We’ve eaten here a few times thinking I was just ordering the wrong things, or maybe it was an off night, but the food is mid at best. The best thing about this place is that it is a short walk to get to Portside Pizza.

We had a hankering for some BBQ tonight and one of the shop owners at the Emporium recommended Smokin’ Jakes, so we gave it a shot. The three of us had our dog with us so we got takeout. Let’s break down the good and the bad with some good ole pros and cons as to why this is an only a 3-Star Review.
The good (pros):
– Tasty French Dip with a good amount of beef, cheese, and flavor.
– Solid salad with a variety of greens, fresh bell peppers, broccoli, and homemade ranch.
– Although though, a little salty, the baked beans were very tasty and full of flavor.
– Very good potato salad. Almost as good as we make at home.
– The meat was tender and juicy.
The bad (cons)
– Make sure when you order to go that you check your boxes for order accuracy. We ordered three meat sampler, got back to our hotel and it was missing the pork the turkey. When we returned the brisket, because we are honest folks, they gave us a smaller portion of BBQ sauce and almost shorted us the baked beans.
– Also, when they provided us the remake with all three meats, they loaded us up with brisket fat this time (see photo) and made me instantly regret my honesty returning the incorrect order. No good deed goes unpunished.
– Overall, there is no real smoke flavor on the turkey, brisket, or sliced pork. Heck, that chain around the country with a similar name to Infamous Dan’s has much more of a smoked flavor on Smokin’ Jakes meats. Maybe I was expecting too much with the name of this establishment.
