I have been trying new places to support local restaurants. Unfortunately, this place will not be in our rotation. Extremely small portions, so bad value for the money. Food is overly salted, which caused us to throw the Mac and cheese away. The two cornbreads were 1.5 x 2” square for $3.50! The mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese were $7.50 each for 3/4 of a pint. Finally, the combo, which fit into a regular container was $22.00. I don’t mind paying for good food, but I expect quality and value for my money. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Photos included.

I had happened upon the Milwaukie food cart months ago, but didn’t have a chance to stop by, until recently. I decided I wanted to try the BBQ, because in Milwaukie you only have Busters, while also good, I need diversity. This little cart has all the diversity I need from a BBQ joint. There were healthy/going towards gluten free (big must in our house), and they even had a vegetarian option. While that is not what I was going for, I cannot wait to go back and try it. The other thing that caught my attention from this cart, is the fact that they have great tasting, healthy options for the near by high school students, and the meals are only five dollars! Talk about knowing your customers and their needs and ensuring returning business. I also know some of the construction guys have been raving about this place, I heard so many going to lunch telling their friends they are going to have to try it when they get there. The gentleman that helped me was very nice and patient while I figures out what I wanted to eat. I finally decided on a pulled pork sandwich and they had a special offering of curly fries, they are my weakness. The fries were so crispy and not greasy, I really need to know their secret. I got my sandwich with sweet and spicy sauce, but the spicy I felt was not hot, but had a nice balance of heat and flavor. Defiantly a place I would love to come back and order something different. I am excited to try everything on the menu! Such a great find and by total accident.

Updated review: nope wont be back. False advertising of their chicken sandwhich. Switched from lettuce to spinach (completely different flavor and vegetable) and I thought made the sandwich terrible, my wife who was also a big fan of the grilled chicken sandwhich dislikes it. They didn’t put it on their board or give a heads up about the change. When asked about it, “oh we changed it and use Spinach now, we will change it on the board today” sweet you mean after I wasted my money on it? Glad i had to pay for your mistake and pay for you to change you own board and thanks for not offering some mind of resolution, refund or something..you know since I paid for something that was NOT correct per your menu that was NOT updated, which is on the company NOT the customer.

SO GOOD, just ate there today, the chef/proprietor was nice and FAST, and the food was impeccable. I had the cauliflower sandwich (you get to pick your sauce, he recommended the sweet BBQ sauce) and sweet potato fries ( you can get regular too.) Sweet potato fries came with a delicious sauce, not sure what it was but it was it unique and habit-forming. Lemonade was perfectly tangy and sweet, portions were generous. BONUS: this is a meat haven but he can do the sausage plates with a vegan sausage and there’s plenty of options for veggies. Will return!

The meat is so delicious! The sides are pretty good too but the magic is in the bbq. I would recommend to go with a friend and get two combos so you can mix and match and try everything. I really enjoyed the brisket and pulled pork, sausage and grilled chicken. Man, getting hungry just writing this review! The potato salad was simple and delicious too.

My wife and I went to the Milwaukie Food Cart area for lunch on May 23, 2021 and I immediately headed for the Smokin Barrel- which I’ve been thinking about trying for some time. I picked the pulled pork sandwich. I waited only a short time for the sandwich and it was excellent- I loved the hickory smoked sauce [I think that was it] and I also loved the fact that they grilled the bun. Some onions, some dill pickles, lots of pork, tasty sauce and very good fries too, by the way. The cost was $13.00 before tip- which seems reasonable for a made-to-order sandwich- and I felt good about giving some business to one of our food cart operators.

I’m from Texas, and so it is very difficult to find BBQ that is high in quality and taste in Oregon so far away from the lone star state.
This is without question the best BBQ in Portland. The brisket especially is tender and incredible. I highly recommend the sweet sauce with it.
The Mac and Cheese and Fries are also incredible. Try this platter out and you will be in BBQ heaven.
You will not find a more kind and generous owner and staff. And their food is so good that it is often sold out, so make sure you get there early if you want to try it. It is worth the wait!

I had the smoked/grilled chicken plate. It appears to be thigh meat which is the best part of the chicken for flavor and moisture. I had the collard greens for a side. I grew up in Florida eating collards, mustards, and turnips, so I have a pretty good idea how greens are supposed to taste. I’m impressed. I don’t know where they get their greens, but they are good. If only there was a way to get fried okra, this place would be perfect.

So good!!! We love the brisket. The mac and cheese has black pepper, just the way I like it. The fries are so crispy/soft perfect! The first time we ordered, we ordered through GrubHub and it was still good. The second time, I ordered there. Trust me, go there and get it yourself. It’s so much fresher, doesn’t sit in the car, and the person working the truck is super, super nice. My son says this is his favorite bbq place.
