I see what people are saying about the prices, but honestly, my husband and I thought it was worth every penny. Every one was super friendly, the food was delicious, the portions were large (pics show after some has been eaten), and the drinks were tasty!
We are hoping to come back to Adventures on the Gorge next year and we will definitely be returning to this restaurant!

I think there may have been some scheduling problems with staff, because when we went we were only two people inside the restaurant. There were a few tables outside that were full, but it took almost half an hour to get our orders in.
The portions were large, but not as flavorful as you might hope.
We ordered the brisket basket, wings for an appetizer, the strawberry walnut salad, and the key lime dessert. Unfortunately, our food was delivered all at the same time. So by the time we ate the salad and the wings, our brisket was cold.
But there was live music in the outdoor space. And it is a pretty place with interesting artwork hidden in ceiling spaces. And you can get a nice view of a sunset behind the treeline.
I’d probably go again but maybe not order multiple courses.

First time here. My husband thought it was a BBQ restaurant, but it was not. We weren’t very impressed by the menu but only because they didn’t offer dinner type meals. Burgers, chicken sandwich, chicken wrap, BLT. So sandwich type items. Easy to assemble, so to speak. This is fine if you know that’s what they offer, but we didn’t do our part and look at the menu before going. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich with fries, and I ordered the Philly steak hoggie with mac and cheese. Portion sizes were good. His sandwich was lacking in flavor, or maybe needed some kind of sauce. The mac and cheese was pretty good. Our waitress was super pleasant and did a good job. We sat outside since it was a beautiful day. That was a nice option. It’s a beautiful area. I would recommend trying it out. Just look over the menu first.

Nice laid-back dining experience with plenty of outdoor seating. While the views are somewhat obstructed by overgrown trees, the atmosphere is still enjoyable. The menu is the same as the one posted at their website, and we enjoyed everything we ordered.

Starting off the food was delicious. However, the service was not very good. I ordered peach lemonade. It had no flavor and when we told our server, she stated that they knew there was something wrong with the lemonade, so why didn’t she tell me so that I could start off with something refreshing instead? I ordered a wrap with fries, I received a wrap with salad (which by the way, we were still charged with even though we didn’t order it). When we let the server know, she brought a small portion of fries. It took an half an hour just to place our order. Then it took 45 to 50 minutes more to receive our food, and this without the server asking if we wanted a refill on our drinks. We were traveling and thought this would be a great break from the car, we weren’t, however, expecting a 2+ hour dinner. The food was excellent though. The view also adds to their atmosphere. We were at this restaurant on 6/21/25.

We went there with a party of seven. They were clearly understaffed for the weekend however, everybody was pleasant and working hard to service all of the customers. Our server Faith was excellent. Great place to go and hang out the views of the gorge are beautiful. The food was quite good, especially The steak tips and fried green tomatoes.

This was our second time visiting as we visited about 3 years ago. We were so excited to eat dinner here as we loved it last time.
We came a little after 5 and the place was empty, so we were able to get a table outside on their patio, which is beautiful.
Our waitress was very prompt in getting us our drinks and taking our order. When our food arrived it was a huge portion to really fit the $28 dollar charge per meal for the brisket dinner.
With that said, the brisket was absolutely dry. I was trying to get the waitress attention as the staff was all inside the restaurant just chatting up a storm with each other. One of the other server’s noticed I was waiving my hand for help. A gentlemen came over and I asked for a different dressing and that the brisket was very dry. Then our waitress showed up and told me she would replace my dinner with another brisket dinner that was less dry at no charge. I thought that meant she was going to comp the meal and get me a new one, but no, she said she would not charge me for 2 meals. I just had to laugh at that comment. Anyway, she was super sweet and probably just got confused. In any event, she did replace it out and it was certainly better than the first plate, but still awful!!!
That was very disappointing to say the least. I left half my dinner there without finishing it. We love the environment of this restaurant, but for a $84 dollar dinner check with tip for 2 meals and 1 beer and 1 tea I doubt we’ll visit again the next time we come through WV.

Literally some.of the best food I have had in a looooooong time. Everything was perfect! Our waitress, Lexi was outstanding! The view is great and the overall atmosphere is stunning!

My husband and I finally made it here to eat today and to say we were impressed is an understatement. It’s in a great location, the atmosphere is amazing. We had the sweetest waitress. She made sure we had plenty to drink and had everything we needed. We ordered 2- 10 ounce sirloins with a side salad, Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and fries. Everything was cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. We will definitely be returning, hopefully the next time it isn’t cold and rainy so we can see some great views from here. If you haven’t been here yet, definitely go check it out, you won’t be disappointed!!

Being vegan it can be very hard to find places to eat while visiting from out of town but Smokey’s came through for us! Food is amazing! Cauliflower wings are incredible and the black bean burgers are excellent! Faith was very helpful and her service was impeccable! The views are also amazing! Will definitely be dining here again when we return.
