Amazing BBQ experience! I ordered the brisket sandwich with coleslaw and potato salad, and everything was fantastic. The sandwich had a generous portion of brisket. The potato salad was good, it was thick, hearty, and flavorful.
I also tried the smoked then fried chicken wings with Buffalo sauce. These were absolutely incredible, crispy on the outside, and the Buffalo sauce had the perfect amount of heat (mild to medium, not overwhelming). Honestly some of the best chicken wings I’ve had.

Food was good friendly staff coleslaw had better but not horrible by any means. The Mac and cheese about the same. The meats were all very delicious . But my favorite was the nachos very good and worth it.

I travel quite often and obviously KC and Texas offer some great BBQ. I have heard this place was really good so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich and Parm fries and I have to say I was somewhat disappointed in my food. It was not true Brisket …it was plain roast with a lot of fat. Not bad but certainly not true Brisket. The portion of meat was decent. Most good BBQ places make their own fresh cut fries, these are just bulk Sysco bar fries with seasoning. Overall not very impressive.

Smokey Jake’s is the best BBQ i have ever had in the midwest. Being from the Chicago suburbs, we have had a fair share of bbq. We got the pulled pork grilled cheese, brisket grilled cheese and the garlic parm fries. Everything was so beyond delicious, nothing was left on our plates. The place is run by Jake himself, his wife and I am assuming their child. Jake took our order, it is so nice to see a family run restaurant with great service! Such an amazing atmosphere and even better food! This is a must stop if you are in Aitkin MN!!!

Fantastic place. Ribs were super tender but didn’t just fall off the bone. I Stopped in for the first and everything was great. The baked beans were a highlight for me. My dad who doesn’t like smoked chicken, well his fork kept crossing my plate. Owners were awesome and got to talk to them for a bit and I will definitely be back

Brisket Grilled Cheese sandwich! BBQ brisket sandwich- Holy Cow! No pun intended….. ok, maybe a little… Beer battered fries! Best. Fries. Ever! No joke! Try ’em to believe ’em… One of the Best restaurant experiences in recent memory. Meeting and talking with the Owner, Smokey Jake himself, was very inspiring. They’re a family run business, that started out as a food truck and was so popular they had to expand to the store to be open year round. Many of his immediate family are there working tirelessly for BBQ perfection! The homemade BBQ sauce is Smokey sweet perfection! A great success story indeed, and Jake’s a Great Veteran as well- Thank you for your service! And speaking of service, it’s platinum level service and very personable at Smokey Jakes!

Smokey Jakes is what Famous Dave’s should aspire to be. This place was the best BBQ place I’ve ever visited, and I’ve been everywhere from Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Canada. Eric and Craig have made the experience so much better with the friendly and warm welcome, along with walking me through what would be good. The spicy BBQ sauce was flavourful and the brisket was perfect! The portions were perfect and the wait time is short! Please stop by if you want amazing BBQ!

We stopped at Smokey Jake’s BBQ on our way through Aitkin on a Friday night because someone else’s review said the brisket “melts in your mouth.” We wholeheartedly agree. We also had a half rack of ribs. They were the best we’ve ever had. If you don’t stop in, you’re missing out. Yes, the place was very clean. Yes, the owners were very nice and even chatted with us a little while. We really like that, too. We’ll definitely be back. I can’t wait to try the pulled pork!

I had never heard of this place until recently. I was disappointed that they had run out of Brisket, so I got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. My Dad got the pulled Pork Nachos and a slider. All were OUT OF THIS WORLD! Very good, price was reasonable, and short waiting time. Would love to try the Brisket the next time I stop in.

Grilled Cheese Cubano and baked beans were amazing. Service was quick, staff were polite, and bathroom was clean. Definitely a great place, even if you are just driving through the main drive.
