Desi Kitchen was a disappointment on my recent visit. The restaurant was dead, and I stood at the counter waiting for someone to assist me for over five minutes. No one came out front, and all I could hear was loud chatting coming from the back door area. There was no acknowledgement or greeting, which made me feel completely ignored as a customer. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend Desi Kitchen if you’re looking for attentive service or a welcoming atmosphere.

I’ve been coming to Desi’s Kitchen for over 3 years, and it’s truly one of my favorite spots. The owner takes great pride in his business, and it shows in the consistency and quality of the food. My orders have always been correct, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The chicken curry here is hands-down the best around. If you haven’t tried this place yet, you’re missing out!

The best Indian food I have EVER had (initially from Illinois). They are always friendly and make food fresh to order. We have always dinned in and never had an issue. The owner definitely takes pride in his cooking and it shows.

The man working said that he makes the best rice, and we agree! My party and I really enjoyed our meals. Would definitely return when back in the area.

The rice was fresh bright and colorful and Seasoned well. The aroma in the restaurant was heavenly. It takes a deep nose dive from there. The old men who run the place are rude. They serve everything on paper or plastic. Felt like a grade school cafeteria.
I orderd butter chicken and Garlic Naan bread. The chicken was tough . It should be called sahara chicken. Because its so dry it brings to mind endless sand dunes. The bread was really no different. The flavor of everything was adaquite but not up to the promise made by the smells when you walk in. The price ? Around 30.00 a meal to start. I wish them well but i will never return

When I first walked into this place I was very skeptical, as it was lunch time and the place was completely empty. Granted, they could work a little on their service as it is not typically what you would expect in the USA. I cannot understand why people are not flocking to this restaurant though because the food here is awesome! The shawarma wrap was great, and the chicken tikka masala was absolutely spectacular! Very good sized portions, my wife and I left stuffed! Please give this restaurant a chance, I know I will be back!

5/5 will be back once a week. I had the spicy chicken dish which I asked for hot and it was hot. 7/10 on the heat. Ask them for traditional hot if you want it as hot as they staff would eat it.

Food took about 10-15 mins to prepare which made me happy knowing it was made so fresh. My buddy had the butter chicken and loved it. We both had some naan as well. All the staff were friendly and kind and asked many questions to ensure our order was correct. Even though my boy and I are familiar with the cuisine, you could be a total newbie and they could guide you thru the process. Please come eat here and expand your palate.

My friend suggested the lab if that’s your thing. I don’t eat lamb but apparently it’s to die for here and the run out quickly. I come from the Boston/Providence area and high quality Pakistani/Indian food isn’t hard to come by down there. Desi in Hallowell is among the best and most flavorful I’ve ever had!!

I spend 80 dollars for three meals. We asked for spicy which was a mistake because the food was practically inedible. They give you mostly rice and a few cubes of meat. Not worth the 20 dollars and a night of both my husband and I on the toilet having the most violent bowel movements of our lives. Restaurant looked dingy and dirty. First and last experience here.

Food was pretty good for this area of the country. Guess have been spoiled because live where there are many excellent eateries serving food from the same area of the world.
Must say that the person behind the counter wasn’t particularly friendly or welcoming and this felt offputting. As if it really didn’t matter whether there were customers of not. A wee bit of elbow grease and some paint would go a long way to improve the feel of the place.
