Holy cow!… what a cool place! Kudos to the exceptionally awesome hospitality and friendly service. I experienced more friendliness in the first thirty seconds here than I have ever experienced in a collective weeks worth of dining. On multiple visits now, the place has been nothing less than perfect.

Food: Good BBQ grub. The slices of sweet and spicy pickles that accompany many of the sandwiches are killer…. love them! Overall, some sides taste “from the can” while others taste totally homemade (best collard greens I’ve ever tasted!).

I completely recommend this place. And if you’re lucky enough, your meal will come with a side of comedy (a/k/a the co-owner, Eric).

Was on the way back from a business trip and direly wanted to find a good BBQ place to eat. This restaurant was within the vicinity with excellent reviews so my group and I decided to give it a chance. Initially, we were a little hesitant because the neighborhood looked a little sketchy but boy are we glad we came here!! The best BBQ restaurant we have been to! I ordered a Brisket sandwich and it was cooked to perfection. The Mac and Cheese was okay but the baked beans and meat dishes were superb! I left with three bottles of their BBQ sauce to bring back home with me. Service was entertaining too. The owner was very humorous. Highly recommend this place!

Was a little leery given the surrounding neighborhood. However, don’t let it bother you. Great food. We had ribs, brisket and pulled pork. All were great. Spicy coleslaw was great too. Beer selection is outstanding. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

I’m vegetarian and the house made black bean burger is wonderful. Hubby loves EVERYTHING! Great service with eclectic atmosphere. Owners Lynn and Eric are very friendly and welcoming with guests and add a lot to the comfortable atmosphere. it’s to take the entire family for a delicious meal for omnivores and herbivores alike. And with a large family, the price range is def a winner! This place needs to be featured on the Splendid Table.

I consider myself a connoisseur of ribs. So that’s what I ordered from Smoketown USA when traveling through KY 6/11. Fall off the bone ribs with a very flavorful taste… I would recommend stopping by and confirming for yourself. Their sides were nice, and their cornbread, both sweet and jalapeno, were excellent.

This is gonna be a complicated review, because Smoketown USA is a complicated place.

So I heard about Smoketown USA a couple years ago from my fiancee’s Dad. We all rolled over there for lunch one day and we were all blown away by how delicious the food was. The meat was piping hot and tender, truly “melt-in-your-mouth” quality that you just can’t find anywhere else. An absolute culinary delight.

So we kept going, about once a month at lunchtime. Every time we visited, the food was phenomenal and served incredibly quick.

So after about a year of this, we decided to cruise over to Smoketown for dinner with my parents, as they’d never eaten there and we’d been talking up the quality of the food.

The restaurant wasn’t overly busy and there were plenty of tables available. Even still, we waited over an hour for a table of four to receive our food, and when it came out, it was cold. And I don’t mean “sitting under a heat lamp” cold, I mean refrigerator cold. After waiting for an hour. Even worse, my Mom ordered a fish sandwich and the fish was raw underneath the top layer of breading.

So we left disappointed and surprised that our favorite rib joint served up food of that quality.

Not giving up in the least, both my parents, my fiancee and I returned a few weeks later for lunch and yet again, the food was stellar. Hot, tender, for cripes sake you can eat the bones they’re so thoroughly smoked and delicious!

Fast forward a few weeks later and we decide to head to Smoketown after a wedding for some grub. I order the half slab, Dad gets the full slab and everyone else gets rib baskets. Bear in mind, it’s dinner again, and this time the place was busy with at least one 20-top table being served.

Food doesn’t take long to arrive but it’s cold. Like, refrigerator cold, again. I ask the waiter to throw mine in the microwave to heat it up, but Dad doesn’t want a $25 full slab nuked. Couldn’t really blame him — no one should have to ask for them to nuke their food at a smokehouse!

So, the moral here is “Make sure you go to Smoketown USA for lunch, because dinner can be a crapshoot”.

As for the service, it’s always stellar. The wait staff are attentive and personable, and many of them have been there for a long time. The owner (who markets himself as “The Redneck Jew”) is a friendly guy who did everything in his power to make the meal right by comping the meal for our entire table after the food came out cold, which he most certainly did not need to do — we were very insistent that he need not go that far, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer. That’s exactly how more restaurateurs should handle their businesses, and that’s why they’ve earned a four star review.

Our ribs were very tough. They did not live up to my expectations for a place that specializes in BBQ. The sides were ok, nothing special. One of the employees also made us very uncomfortable. He sat at our table and started chatting with us and made a rude comment about my friends’ breasts. I would not come back here.

Amazing food and atmosphere. You can’t go wrong with anything, from the fall off the bone ribs, crisp and flavorful fried catfish to the greens and mac n cheese. A must stop when in Louisville or if you’re just passing through (short distance off freeway).
