The food at this restaurant was really good and full of flavor. Every dish tasted fresh and well-seasoned, and you could tell care was put into the preparation. The flavors were balanced and not overpowering, which made everything very enjoyable.
The brisket melt was amazing — the meat was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor in every bite. The fried pickles were perfectly crunchy and very nicely done, adding a great texture to the meal. The asparagus was incredibly well seasoned and cooked to perfection, honestly some of the best asparagus I’ve ever had. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience and I would definitely come back again.

Very authentic southern style bbq with a southern California price tag. Very big portions, and authentic Texas style sides. I had a 3 meat platter (Babybacks, Brisket, and Links). It was enough food for 3 meals! So yes, it’s pricey, but it’s California. No surprise there. But you get portions the size of Texas. Definitely quality slow smoked meats. Ribs were perfect, and the links were super juicy! Loved the brisket as well. Perfectly cooked. Homemade bbq sauces were awesome as well. Prepare for the parking issues.

Rodrigo our server was the absolute best. He was energetic, funny, knowledgeable, and attentive. He gave the best recommendations on the food that did not disappoint one bit. He brought the atmosphere to next level for my group. The food was great, very fresh and super filling, the portions were also very nice. The fried pickles and loaded tots for the appetizers were delicious AND they have southern sweet tea. The banana bread is unmatched as well, and of course the tri tip and asparagus are the real winners here. Overall great location, live music, and good vibes. Will definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

My friend had baby back ribs (which I tasted) and I had fried chicken. My chicken Was excessively coded with breading perhaps 1/2 inch to three-quarter inches in places and was dry. My friends ribs were also very dry We were there on a Saturday night and there wasn’t adequate staff to serve customers promptly or pleasantly. What a shame. The photo show the breading very dry from the chicken breast alone. Regrettable

Let me start with the atmosphere: the table I’m next to is very loud and have no manners. The room itself is small so you can’t hear the person in front of you when people are laughing their lungs out. The service is so so. Once the waiter dropped of the food, she did not come back until the end maybe because knew the food was burned. I could have returned it but I didn’t because they might spit on my food if I complain. Let’s leave it like that. I ordered the Chicken dinner. It’s supposed to be crispy chicken. I didn’t know its burned to crisped chicken. It tastes burnt. In restaurant business, food has to be cooked right the first time and quality checked before it gets served. No second chances. The burnt chicken came with very small side about 3 tablespoon of veggies and 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes. At the end of the meal, I advised the waitress not to overcook the chicken next time. The waitress offered no apology or whatsoever. The price is very high. The chicken dinner is 32. It came with two small sides. The price does not match the quality of the food.

Probably some of the worst food I’ve eaten in a very long time. The southern choke was a southern joke. It tasted like hot egg salad. The tortilla chips were burnt. The blue cheese burger was dry and mostly bun. The fries were cold and tasted like the they were from Dennys. Abysmal. Not to mention the 3% service price gouge for using a debt card. Do yourself a favor, visit the Jack in the box down the street which is significantly better. Great server. Very attentive and friendly.

I’ve been dying to eat here. I finally got the chance. Place is kinda small and cramp. My son was seated and I headed to the restroom. Old fashioned bathroom and a bit dirty. We sat outside and table was sticky. We started off with the frito pie. The pie came out without scallions. I brought it to our waiter’s attention. He came back with the scallions and I tossed them on top. Frito pie picture shown was without the scallions. Honestly, you can make this at home. The frito pie was the main reason we came here. Also I wanted to try the cornbread but didn’t get the chance. As for the entree we ordered fries with a mushroom burger. The fries were nice, crunchy and tasty. We also ordered a wedge salad. To my dismay, there was a hair in the salad. I let the waiter know. We had to wait for our salad to come out again. Once the error was corrected, salad was decent. I was extremely disappointed that only $3.00 was knocked off the $19.00 hair salad. At least offer a 50% discount off the salad for the trouble of is waiting for scallions on the Frito pie and the disgusting hair in the salad. I gave them one star for the poor quality assurance and poor discount. I discourage people from eating here.

Remember back in the 90s when McDonald’s had real barbecue sauce? Tangy and sweet and subtly spicy? It was an irrecoverable part of my childhood. When I tasted the Kansas barbecue sauce at Smokehouse on Main, my first thought was “oh my gosh, this tastes just like that” — but then my second thought was, “no, this Kansas style sauce taste like what that 90s sauce wanted to be when it grew up.” I mean that as a complete compliment.
Ordered brisket sandwich with wasabi slaw and onion rings. I’m not good at beer pairings and I like ‘em thick and dark, so after sampling the Black Cat stout, on tap from Eight One Eight brewery, I ordered a glass of that rich, roasty brew, and it was satisfying to the last drop.
The wasabi slaw made a perfect complement with a slight kick. The brisket, though a bit dry in some slices (which may be just the norm for brisket) was tenderly textured and cooked just right, and quite tasty.
My hostess was friendly, laid-back, and pleasantly conversational. The onion rings were the best I’ve ever had. Planning to come back.

Been here many times, always a good experience.
Everything is good, but my go to is the brisket or tri tip with veggies.
The staff are kind and attentive.
The location is clean with indoor outdoor seating. Plenty of parking nearby.

If I could give this place more than five stars I absolutely would. I am not the type of man to cry over food, but I shed a tear when I tried their brisket. This was the best damn brisket I’ve had since I was 13 years old growing up in South Carolina.
