My expectations aren’t super high, but I think the “ska club,” “night at the Roxbury” music playing
that didn’t fit the vibe might have something to do w/ it. There were 6 other people at the bar, a couple in the corner & a table if 6 behind me. The manager came out to talk to the couple in the corner about their experience, which is not a great sign, but we’ll see. He saw that I was writing a review & never went back in the kitchen after that, unless it was for a brief moment. He involved himself in pouring drinks & barely left my side. He made small talk & I learned that he had been open for 4 years. It was difficult for me to eat, take pictures of the food or write the review with his constant engaging presence. He was pleasant & made sure to pick up the bartenders slack. For instance, a coaster under the drinks, offering me a glass, or putting down a placemats under the food or supplying silverware, none of which she did. I ordered a Modelo, but when she grabbed it out of the cooler, i saw that it was Especial not Negra, so i asked do you have the dark? She said no & w/ out hesitation opened it, not giving me a chance to ask for something different. Not a big deal, but she seemed indifferent & with no affect. None of this is a deal breaker, just an observation. The food, that was a deal breaker. I ordered the (smoked BBQ sandwich) & opted for the brisket. It came with a side & I chose onion rings. They were pre-salted, almost too much, but they were good. No complaints there. The sandwich however was impossible to eat. The meat was very tough & stringy. It was impossible to tear, bite or cut. The roll was soft, untoasted & soggy, causing it to fall apart making a mess. I gave up, turning to fork & knife to cut what resembled a tangled bunch of hair in both in taste & texture. There was something on the meat, but it was more of a marinade than BBQ as we know it. The same goes for the cheese. I did not see any caramelized onions, but there were two jalapeños. The owner asked how the meal was & I said eh. He said only ok? so I elaborated. He said he would relay the information to the kitchen & I thanked him. After that he never came back into the dining area until after I had left. I do feel bad writing this review because he was so overly involved in my experience & he was a nice gentleman that I would like to succeed, but I do not think I would want to return there after my experience with that sandwich, especially for the price. The meal alone was bad enough. Maybe a change in staff would help, unless they were related. I felt bad writing this review because the owner made it a point to be overly engaging with me once he saw that i was writing a review, but the better way to handle things is to make sure that you guest’s experience is top notch. I felt like he tried to keep me engaged, so i wouldnt be rough on him, but it is supposed to be about the customers experience, not my empathy for the friendly owner. I wish him the best of luck.

First time here for my friend and me. He grew up in the south. I live there now. I was hungry for BBQ. The place is very small but it does have a great bar collection especially the scotch. They have Yamazaki. Service was very good. My friend had the brisket burger and said it was very dry. I had combo ribs and brisket. Brisket was tender but more fat than I like. Most surprising was the steamed broccoli and beans which I do not care for. This could be a good happy hour place.

While this small restaurant rocks late on Weekend nights – it might be the best hidden gem in West Hartford for Happy Hour and early dining times. Expect excellent food from a truly unique menu – excellent service – and it’s a Public House – so also expect to share stories with other folks at the bar.

In these times – quiet, friendly, welcoming. Usually the bartender Rich is also the charismatic owner who designs the incredible dishes the kitchen puts out. Try it.

Absolutely love this place!

The food is amazing, so is the drink!!!

We ordered the Taco salad with pulled pork and bbq sauce. The salad came in a taco bowl, which was a good balance with the salad itself. The PMS Martini was very classic. Berry Fizz was the best mocktail I ever had! Excellent customer service too! We’ll come back for sure!

A nice, quaint smokehouse and bar nestled in West Hartford, Connecticut. The ambiance is casual, relaxed, and has a great vibe. They have a pretty nicely decorated outdoor seating area. The bartender, Jennifer, was very nice, and the owner, Rich, is amazing and kind. I ordered the brisket sandwich, which was ok, but the Negronis were spectacular. I’ll be back to give the food another try—certainly for the good vibes.

So good! Food was amazing! Love Tao – great bartender! She checked on us frequently and made a great recommendation for dinner! Had the fried pickles which were delish and split the rib dinner with a side of brisket. More that enough for two people. They have three different Japanese whiskeys which we’ll be back to try!

Another awesome drum and bass night! Never ate here but been to a few of these now and they are crazy fun. They had an MC all the way from Germany. Super cool.

My boyfriend had seen Smoke on Google Maps so we figured we would try it out tonight. Walking in, the atmosphere and decor is very nice and unique. The owner brought us over water and was very friendly. Bartender/waitress Michelle was also really friendly and on top of her game.

Overall, we would say Smoke Public House is more of a drink/app type of place. Our drinks were great. We got the Cajun Margarita and the Basil Straw Cooler. Both were made correctly and were decorated nicely. We ordered the Buffalo chicken dip as an app. The chips were fresh and hot. The Buffalo chicken dip however was more like soup. There either needed to be more chicken or less liquid. Flavor was good however we also did stumble upon two thin bones in the dip. We ordered the slider trio w/ fries and brisket sandwich with onion rings for our meals. Both meals were good. Onion rings were nice and crispy and the sandwich was unique, loaded with brisket, and had a nice touch with the jalapeños and caramelized onions. However, again in the chicken slider my boyfriend found several smaller bones which made the meal quite distasteful even though the flavor was great. We left spending $85 which we felt was a bit overpriced for the overall experience. Would definitely go back for drinks and apps, however would probably skip meals in the future.

Good food and nice small place with about 10 to 15 tables. They have a DJ starting at 11pm on Fridays and he was very good.

Our second chicken wings order was half cooked and was not good though.

Very cool spot! Our server was fantastic and the food was delicious! The inside had a great vibe and when the weather warms up the patio looks like it would be great time. She told us a DJ goes in at 10pm on Friday so that would be fun to check out some time. We will definitely go back!
