Update: GO TO Brannan Schlitz BBQ instead for brisket(inclued a picture)…..It’s called Smoke to and Barrel but I didn’t taste any smoke in my brisket. Not even a smoke ring on the meat. The server or the bartender was very helpful and friendly. The food was served in a very reasonable time under 10 minutes. The first thing I noticed was no mac and cheese and the other one was no cornbread. So I should have been prepared for more disappointment, but the photos on the reviews looked very enticing. Unfortunately, I got the short end of the stick. Brisket seemed like it was overcooked. It tasted like pot roast. I specifically asked for the point side but was served. The flat side which I know is not as tender, but I think this establishment prepares their their point side for sandwiches like most traditional barbecue places do and they reserve the flat side for the patrons which most barbecue places do. I was just hoping that they had some slices of the flat left before I ordered. Our bartender did try to make things right by letting the kitchen know the situation, but they just came out with more slices of flat brisket and not really what I wanted. Brisket was tough as a sirloin…Unfortunately I could not eat it because I was not in the mood for steak. I wanted brisket.

Me and my sister came by last minute because we were starving and Skoke and Barrel did not disappoint! Incredibly fast service, friendly atmosphere, AMAZING food and the local beers are great! Lexi was our server and she took great care of us and I would definitely ask for her when you come! I will definitely be coming back!

All I want to do is throw up!…After partially eating their brisket dish! YUK! I say partially because it was 99% fat! When I picked up my order, the server ssid, “You’re LUCKY” you got the last piece of brisket!” Yeah? REAL LUCKY! No, lady, I got the last slice of disgusting fat! Barf! Also, when I opened the container, there was only 1 side, even though she asked what 2 sides I wanted! I called them from my car & explained it was missing a side. I called & told them what happened & the lady mgr., I assume, said the kitchen was having a bad night. She gave me my 2nd side & when I opened it it was cold mashed potatos with unheated cheddar cheese on top. Evidently, they forgot to heat it up! What an incredibly bad experience! I’ll never go back!

A surprisingly awesome restaurant and bar! I came at lunchtime with my sister, and we were happy to see such a beautiful, patriotic, and comfortable dining room.
The seating is cozy, yet comfortably spacious. The adjustable lamps per booth can be set for dim or bright lighting.
The walls are humbly decorated with beautiful stretched canvases, art made by a local carpenter using excess flooring, and lids to brewing barrels. We also listened to alternative rock from the 1990s, which was refreshing.
The wait staff are kind, helpful, patient, and very knowledgeable. Meeting the owner was a treat, as we saw him joining in helping his staff clean, take away trash, and assist customers. He said hiring good staff makes it easier, and I saw wonderful teamwork.
The brisket plate and the Ruben Sandwich were super tasty, as well as the collard greens and smashed cheesey potatoes. We also enjoyed a bourbon brownie with ice cream! It was all very well prepared, and so delicious!
I would definitely recommend coming here with friends and family for wonderful food, drinks, and entertainment. I definitely want to come back and bring some friends!

Had my first had disappointing meal here on Friday. I got the cup of bacon appetizer and the brisket with the cucumber and tomato salad. The salad was outstanding as always.
The bacon was limp and cold. The brisket was stringy, mushy, and fatty to the point it was inedible. I took what was left home and threw it away. It was definitely more like pot roast than any brisket I’ve had. If they haven’t dialed in their new smoker in 2 months then maybe they should have stuck with the old one.
This wasn’t late in the evening but around 6 o’clock. The Service was good as it always is. I’ve had several great meals here, so I’m gonna give them the benefit of the doubt, but I definitely was taking a back at the poor quality of the food.

My first visit, being from East Tennessee.
I ordered the brisket quesadilla and my friend got the sampler plate. I also got a marguerita.
The quesadilla was excellent! Thick with meat and cheese a,and everything else. My friend was quite happy with his sample, saying the BBQ chicken was the best.
Combined with the excellent service provided by Kalin, it was a fine dining experience.

This was the first time we have been at Smoke and Barrel and just loved it. The atmosphere was relaxing, waitress was excellent and the food was fabulous. I ordered the Southwest rice bowl with tofu and it was great. My son ordered a brisket quesidilla and my husband the brisket plate. They thought the meat was cooked perfectly
and was juicy. We will be definitely be going
back.
Had the grilled chicken parmesan sandwich tonight and it was superb. Great Italian flavor and served hot with a side of coleslaw. The best sandwich I have had in a long time.

Stopped by after a long day and tried the Daily Deal: Prime Rib Sandwich with sides of Black Bean and Pork Soup, Cheesy Mashed Potatoes, and Collard Greens, with a Pint of Red Oak on draft. Once again, the Smoke and Barrel did not disappoint.
The Ribeye Sandwich was absolutely delicious with generous portions and great taste. The soup was really tasty with subtle flavors and full textures. Potatoes and Collards really finished the meal off well and left me unable to find room for one of the many dessert options that all sounded amazing.
The S&B has a plentiful tap and bottle selection, and if t’were later in the evening, a fine top shelf collection to invite shots and cocktails.
The building itself is in a refurbished uptown area and its high ceilings and hardwood floors lend it an elegant but unpretentious feel.
As usual I enjoyed chatting with the staff and really felt welcome. Nice balance of friendly Southern charm and space to unwind.
So again, the Smoke and Barrel showed why it’s a great option whether dining alone, in small groups, date nights, or listening to live bands. Look forward to many happy returns.

Stopped in on a Saturday for lunch. Great location in downtown Sanford. Joint was packed so I found a good spot at the bar. There was only 1 waitress and the bartender but as I was not in a hurry in was no big deal. I ordered the brisket plate but was informed that there was no brisket and they were out of pulled pork. It was 1pm. I pivoted to the brisket tacos which the bartender said she thought they could handle. The tacos were ok. Was kind of hard to get a feel for how good the brisket was with guacamole sauce and tomatoes. The cheesy mashed potatoes were excellent. Not a bad experience. Every place has a bad day.
