Smitty’s Lockdown BBQ is officially found guilty of serving some of the best barbecue in Georgia, and I’m happy to hand down a life sentence of repeat visits.
On the owner’s recommendation, I went with the sampler platter, and I’m glad I followed orders. Three kinds of meat: pulled pork, pork ribs, and smoked brisket, all cooked to perfection. Tender, smoky, and full of flavor. The sides were just as impressive: crispy fried okra, refreshing coleslaw, and perfectly toasted Texas toast, all clearly made fresh.
They offer three house-made sauces, and each one deserves its own parole hearing, impossible to choose a favorite.
The prison theme throughout the restaurant is clever and fun without feeling gimmicky. It’s got personality, great food, and friendly service! What more could you ask for?
The bathrooms are impeccably clean.
The staff were wonderful! I told them this was my first visit, and they patiently walked me through the menu.
If you’re anywhere near Marietta, consider this your official warning: once you try Smitty’s, you’ll be locked in for life.

If you’re a BBQ lover, Smitty Lockdown BBQ is a must-try! The brisket is incredibly tasty—tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was packed with that rich, smoky goodness you hope for in great barbecue.
We ordered a team lunch for pick up and everyone loved it!
Don’t skip the sauces… they are so yummy and pair perfectly with the meat without overpowering it. You can tell a lot of care and passion goes into the food here.

Texas BBQ snob, in town for work and a family visit and made a stop at Smitty’s. And we tried a sample of all their meats and sides. Quick observations:
1. A comprehensive menu with so many options beyond the typical BBQ restaurant…. So something for everyone.
2. Their pork meats were fantastic! Pulled pork, ribs and sausage were great. Loved the chicken as well.
3. So many sauce options….i think more than 15 … which was fun to pair with the different meats. Some were a bit exotic for me but fun to experiment.
4. Brisket has a ways to go to compete with Texas style brisket, but after meeting one of the new owners, I’m confident they will get this dialed in.
5. The restaurant was spotless with plenty of seating and a fun motif that aligns with the name. Lots of Grub Hub and Uber Eats orders going out the door while we were there which made for a great dine in experience without a crowd.
6. Tried the banana pudding and Lemon Orange Delight. Loved the delight!
7. Prices were great for BBQ. If I lived in the area, would make Smitty’s a regular stop.
As I noted above, I met one of the new owners and was impressed with his focus on improvements….so if you haven’t been in a while, give Smitty’s a visit….you’ll make it a regular stop. I’ll be back!

Best Bbq Around! Friendly faces, hard workers, and succulent bbq!! Pork is out of this world! Love the baked beans and Brunswick stew. Their sauces are so delicious! love the hotbox flaming sauce and the tastebud kicker!!!! so on point!!!

Smitty’s Lockdown BBQ is inspired by the building’s original purpose, a bank. The original vault bars and gate are prominent and essential to the theme. The BBQ smoker is in the parking lot so you know they are smoking the meats on-site. My wife and I each got a chopped pork sandwich and we split a medium coleslaw. They offer a huge selection of sauces. The atmosphere is great. The staff were helpful and friendly. The meal was delicious.

Last night we ordered via Doordash from Lockdown. The 2 meat platter knowing in this review that the meats had a chance to continue to cook in the container. The ribs were very good. Great taste, soft and full of flavor. The brisket with no marbling was dried out. We prefer brisket with marbling, it was 8pm when we ordered. The driver did not get to the house until close to 9pm. If I reviewed solely on the ribs, I would give you 5 stars. We will have to come in and order marbled brisket. The fried okra was good. The BBQ sauce was vinegar based and tangy. I liked it. From In Living Color, I give you 2 thumbs up and a twist.

As an Alabama native, I can say their white-sauce is on-point and their smoked bbq chopped chicken is among the best I’ve had. I also highly recommend the ribs – great balance of smokiness/spices/sweetness. The balance of heat and pepper in the night fury sauce was my favorite and a unique flavor combo I hadnt seen anywhere else- really enjoyed that with the pulled pork + brisket.
I’d also add, their desserts aren’t an afterthought- tried the banana pudding and peach cobbler, highly recommend both!

10/10 every time. The food is AMAZING, and they have lots of sauces to choose from. I always try a new one and am happy each time. The staff is always super friendly and it’s a place I know I can count on for having amazing bbq consistently. I especially like this place because I don’t eat beef/pork, and they have turkey on the menu which can be hard to find. The smoked turkey SLAPS. Went to Smittys lockdown bbq for the first time yesterday and everything was truly amazing. The food was delectable and exquisite (as long as you don’t mind getting down and dirty on some ribs). My group of 3, including myself, absolutely loved their ribs and smoked sausage, and all of their sides were delicious. Legit all of their sides are good. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the employees were truly helpful and friendly. We will definitely be returning back here to dine again. Thank yall so much.
