The Smithfield Gourmet Bakery, in the heart of historic Smithfield, Virginia, on property platted centuries ago, in a 18th-century storefront on old Main Street, offers breakfast, lunch and early dinner selections until 5 p.m. seven days a week. Offerings include delicate pastries and delightfully decadent menu options — as well as old favorites — every breakfast, lunch and brunch. Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Need something light? Try a fruit cup, a slice of quiche or a cup of oatmeal! Need something substantial? Go for one of our meal-worthy sandwiches: Main Street Monte Cristo, the Bakery Burger, the pork and Pinot wrap or the Windsor Castle. Yum!

Smithfield Gourmet was such a delightful spot for a girls out lunch. The prices were very affordable, the portions were generous and the food was delicious. I drove from Suffolk and decided to try something a little different for breakfast. I had the Cheddar and bacon omelet, sourdough toast, shredded hash brown and a side of sausage. The omelet was hot which was a plus; however, most of the bacon inside was burnt. The sourdough toast was buttery and very good. The sausage was waaaaaaaay over cooked and hard as a rock. The hash brown was okay, not as hot as I would have liked but okay. My wife had the French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and the pumpkin dessert. She said, her (French toast and eggs) meal was cold and not very special! The Service was okay, not very customer friendly or helpful with the menu. I can cross this one off the list, definitely not a repeat.

We took our 8 and 9 year old granddaughters here today. They ordered the Mac and cheese from the kids menu. After a few minutes, the waitress came back and said the cook told her that the macaroni was not good and it would be better if the girls ordered something else. This was a kids menu item. They probably would not have known the difference but the cook still would not serve it. This impressed me a great deal. My wife got the she-crab soup, which was outstanding. The chicken salad was delicious. Our waitress, Brynne, did an outstanding job.

This bakery in lovely historic Smithfield offers large cupcakes, cookies and cakes along with tasty breakfast items. The frittata was good. The fruit cup seemed a little small for $4. And at the time of ordering there was no bacon available as a side order.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch while in town for the day and we were very impressed. The staff were kind and helpful, the building was charming, and the food was delicious! The bakery was amazing as well. I had their signature chocolate chip cookie. 5 stars all the way!

My family moved to this area recently from New York, so we have been scoping out some favorite spots. We have stopped by here a few times to pick up some things on the go, but my husband and I recently had the pleasure to sit down and eat. The food is SO good! It takes like home, like I have visited a loved one’s house and they have prepared a something to eat just for me. Everyone who works there just adds to that homey feel because they are so friendly and attentive. I really think this place will become a favorite of ours. I can’t wait to try out some of their cheesecakes and other desserts for our birthday parties and celebrations.

Out walking with the dog in Smithfield, pretty main street area. Stopped here for some lunch. Went inside to let them know we were having lunch outside and the waitress came soon enough. We ordered a hamburger and crab cake sandwich. Food came about 15-20 mins later.

Road Trip Sharpening carried me to Smithfield. i enquired about lunch and was told to go here. Outstanding tip, Chris and i enjoyed our lunch. Coffee for me and we started with Fried Green Tomatoes…OhBoy. Chris got the Ruben sandwich and i got the Windsor castle sandwich (Turkey). i wondered over to the dessert case and saw many fine looking cakes and pies, and then i spied one loan looking square bowl. i asked our server Hanna and she said Bread pudding – done deal for us. Hanna was great also. hope to return again.
