Social Profile:

Restaurateurs Akiva Elstein and Matthew Abramcyk have created a vibrant, timeless environment to enjoy innovative cocktails, oysters and Mediterranean-influenced small plates. After sixteen years, they are bringing the downtown energy of Smith & Mills to Rockefeller Center, with an expanded raw bar selection and a private dining room. The same keen interest in Bauhaus and Constructivism and reverence for industry and design remain, serving as continued inspiration for a restaurant that brings something new while paying respect to the past. Centered around a stunning oblong bar, the space is encircled with lush velvet banquettes to encourage lingering over classic cocktails and conversation.

Truly adorable find, on Xmas day! They squeezed us in with no reservations! The food was well crafted. The atmosphere is 1940s Manhattan- even the bathroom is retro. Planning on going back for Valentines Day- this time with reservations for the table but none for the quality of the experience!

An oasis in the city, on the lower level beside Rockefeller skating rink! I made a resy online within 30 min on Sat afternoon. Mocktails or cocktails and a menu with oysters rockefeller. Great service. Take the outdoor elevator from rock plaza down or enter from 30 Rock lobby and go down 1 flight. Be sure to use the lav – it’s unique!

Disappointed by the lack of transparency here. I stopped in for a drink on a weekday afternoon and the bartender automatically added a mandatory 20% gratuity to my check. There was absolutely no notice of this policy on the menu or anywhere at the bar. I understand auto-gratuity for large parties or holidays, but for a single order on a slow weekday, it feels deceptive. Check your bills carefully.

Great service and French onion soup! Strongly recommend doing the lunch set ad it helps save some nosey on the way. The shellfish could have used more sauce but the bread provided was amazing dipped in the soup we ordered from the lunch set. Strongly recommend the chicken croquettes as well.

Took a party of 5 to this newly opened place, and we were blown away! The food was carefully prepared for the freshest, most flavorful appetizers, and main dishes. Our server was knowledgeable to answer any questions we had, and made sure we were well taken care of. Coming from the south where it’s steak and potato, Smith & Mills was DINING! Gave us the NYC meal experience, for sure! Dan is a very gracious host, and I’ll go back when we get to New York again. Bravo

A hidden gem in the rockefeller center! They had a good drinks list and I enjoyed both of my cocktails. The servers seemed to be having fun and made the bar more lively.

Nice place. Food and drinks were good. Service was not so good. Empty plates were not taken away. After appetizers we got main course plates so fast, that we didn’t even finish our appetizers yet.

One of our oysters smelled visibly rotten. We flagged it to the waiter — they removed the charge but were completely unbothered. That night, my friend had food poisoning.
The casual attitude toward a serious food safety issue is the real problem here. Avoid the oysters.

We did not eat Anything, stopped in for cocktails. Had the Battan gin martini with sidecar and it was fantastic. The service was great, atmosphere justice good. Prices were in line for location and just an overall hidden gem.

Smith & Mills is an elegant spot on the lower level of Rockefeller Center to pick up a nice lunch or drinks after work. The tuna sandwich I had today was fantastic. The service and the decor at this restaurant is great. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend a visit to this establishment!
