Social Profile:

Restaurateurs Akiva Elstein and Matthew Abramcyk have created a vibrant, timeless environment to enjoy innovative cocktails, oysters and Mediterranean-influenced small plates. After sixteen years, they are bringing the downtown energy of Smith & Mills to Rockefeller Center, with an expanded raw bar selection and a private dining room. The same keen interest in Bauhaus and Constructivism and reverence for industry and design remain, serving as continued inspiration for a restaurant that brings something new while paying respect to the past. Centered around a stunning oblong bar, the space is encircled with lush velvet banquettes to encourage lingering over classic cocktails and conversation. I couldn’t believe why someone could say anything bad about this place. Came tonight based on a recommendation from a friend.

Off menu: get the bourbon sour
On menu: have the best mussels I’ve ever had with bread to sop the broth

The staff was so kind and genuinely accommodating.

The space was small, intimate, and cozy for a winter night.

Will be back often.

My best friend and I stopped in on February 6th for a quick drink before our dinner reservation across the street at Locanda Verde — and what we thought would be a quick pre-dinner cocktail turned into the highlight of our night.
From the moment we walked in, the space felt small, intimate, and incredibly welcoming. Saeed and Matthew greeted us immediately and made us feel right at home. We grabbed seats at the bar and ended up having the best conversations with them — swapping restaurant industry stories and talking about all the good stuff that comes with it.
The drinks were phenomenal. I had a mezcal cocktail that was perfectly balanced and smoky in all the right ways, and my friend’s Cosmo was equally delicious. But truly, the service was what stood out most. Saeed and Matthew made it feel like we were old friends who had been coming in for years — not first-time guests.
When we realized we were about to be late for our dinner reservation, Saeed didn’t hesitate. He told us not to worry, walked across the street himself, spoke to the maître d’, and bought us another 15–20 minutes to enjoy our drinks. Who does that?! That level of hospitality is rare.
Before we left, he told us that if we came back after our show, he’d make us his famous espresso martinis — and we absolutely took him up on that. When we returned around 10:30, the place was packed, but he got to us right away. And those espresso martinis? They lived up to every bit of the hype.
We had such an amazing experience, largely because of Saeed and Matthew. We’ll definitely be back — this time to try the food along with more of Saeed’s incredible cocktails. Highly recommend!

Incredible space. Great drinks and the staff was lovely. Maximo made an incredible Manhattan, and the chef put together a fantastic charcuterie board. One of the best bars I’ve visited! Highly recommend. The vibe’s and aesthetic are incredible, very cozy and intimate. Staff made us feel at home. Can’t wait to come back!

Have been coming here for years (15 maybe?). Always a treasure. It used to be off radar, but it’s certainly well known now, so it can get quite busy.

Burger is great. Grilled chicken is too. Cocktails are baller.

A neighborhood favorite that never disappoints, esp for the amazing service. Our friendly barkeep Matthew took excellent care of us, sent us on our way…. And then a while later when I realized my phone was missing i ran BACK to the bar as he was closing and helped me scour the entire bar until we found it! Total hero. This type of above-and-beyond is what makes a place like this truly special.

Smith & Mills Tribeca is such a special spot. I’ve been here a number of times, and it never disappoints. The food is always excellent—thoughtful, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The cocktails are fantastic too, crafted with care and creativity.

The atmosphere is what really sets this place apart: cozy, intimate, and full of character, with a vibe that makes you want to stay all night. The staff is warm and attentive, making every visit feel welcoming and effortless.

It’s one of those rare NYC gems that feels both timeless and unique. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a small bar with a great experience in Tribeca.

I stumbled upon this place, such a hidden gem. The service was impeccable, shout out to Matthew the bartender and Stephen the Chef. We ordered the Smokeshow margarita, beyond excellent, and a classic Negroni, outstanding. Ordered the tuna Crudo, the little gem salad, and the burger, one thing better than the next. The atmosphere is whimsical, warm, and down to earth. Would recommend this to anyone in the area looking for an unpretentious good time, a good drink and a good burger.

This is my favourite bar in all of New York. It’s the only place on the planet I come alone.
Such a cool, cute little place, with just awesome service, and food so much better than you’d expect, considering the facilities. I love it.

Second visit to this intimate spot and it overshadow the initial one which was phenomenal. Then lady servers was rude and grumpy, she even spilled wine on my hand while serving it and did not even had the delicacy of apologizing, empty plates were left at the table to linger for long and the cheese plate ordered to pair our $100+ bottle of wine was just mediocre.

When your wine list goes beyond $100 avg per bottle, you should have a service to match it. Unfortunately, this was not the case of this place.
