Restaurateurs Akiva Elstein and Matthew Abramcyk have created a vibrant, timeless environment to enjoy innovative cocktails, oysters and Mediterranean-influenced small plates. After sixteen years, they are bringing the downtown energy of Smith & Mills to Rockefeller Center, with an expanded raw bar selection and a private dining room. The same keen interest in Bauhaus and Constructivism and reverence for industry and design remain, serving as continued inspiration for a restaurant that brings something new while paying respect to the past. Centered around a stunning oblong bar, the space is encircled with lush velvet banquettes to encourage lingering over classic cocktails and conversation. Off menu: get the bourbon sour
On menu: have the best mussels I’ve ever had with bread to sop the broth
The staff was so kind and genuinely accommodating.
The space was small, intimate, and cozy for a winter night.
Will be back often.
From the moment we walked in, the space felt small, intimate, and incredibly welcoming. Saeed and Matthew greeted us immediately and made us feel right at home. We grabbed seats at the bar and ended up having the best conversations with them — swapping restaurant industry stories and talking about all the good stuff that comes with it.
The drinks were phenomenal. I had a mezcal cocktail that was perfectly balanced and smoky in all the right ways, and my friend’s Cosmo was equally delicious. But truly, the service was what stood out most. Saeed and Matthew made it feel like we were old friends who had been coming in for years — not first-time guests.
When we realized we were about to be late for our dinner reservation, Saeed didn’t hesitate. He told us not to worry, walked across the street himself, spoke to the maître d’, and bought us another 15–20 minutes to enjoy our drinks. Who does that?! That level of hospitality is rare.
Before we left, he told us that if we came back after our show, he’d make us his famous espresso martinis — and we absolutely took him up on that. When we returned around 10:30, the place was packed, but he got to us right away. And those espresso martinis? They lived up to every bit of the hype.
We had such an amazing experience, largely because of Saeed and Matthew. We’ll definitely be back — this time to try the food along with more of Saeed’s incredible cocktails. Highly recommend!
Burger is great. Grilled chicken is too. Cocktails are baller.
The atmosphere is what really sets this place apart: cozy, intimate, and full of character, with a vibe that makes you want to stay all night. The staff is warm and attentive, making every visit feel welcoming and effortless.
It’s one of those rare NYC gems that feels both timeless and unique. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a small bar with a great experience in Tribeca.
Such a cool, cute little place, with just awesome service, and food so much better than you’d expect, considering the facilities. I love it.
When your wine list goes beyond $100 avg per bottle, you should have a service to match it. Unfortunately, this was not the case of this place.
