Stopped at this place in a whim. The owner is really friendly. I was a little concerned regarding the cleanliness of the place, but decided to give it a try. The fish was absolutely delicious. Moist with an airy and crunchy coating. I was underwhelmed by the potato salad and beans and saw on my way out the cans of Busches baked beans. I’m guessing the potato salad is store bought as well. It’s a decent place to eat, and I would go back for the fish alone.

Slyms BBQ is the best BBQ around. In my opinion, it’s even better than Whitts. I know Slym and his wife, as they come in to where I work, and they are always so nice and friendly. (And Slym is funny, always making jokes lol) Me and my friend just bought 2 lbs, and we finna tear it up!! Lol

This past Friday, 08/29, East Hickman High-school hosted Slym’s pork bbq sandwiches. I ended up purchasing two, one for me and one for my husband who’s the assistant coach for the team and man oh man was it good. The pork was fresh and just melted in your mouth.My daughter who is 3 and still exploring meat tried the meat as well and actually loved it. The bbq sauce was delicious and had the right amount of pizzaz that complemented the sandwich. BEST PORK IVE EVER HAD!!!

Great food, great service & it feels like you’re sittin’ in Grandma’s dining room- right at the “grown up” table. I loved that.
Very cozy & has a “you’re with family” vibe!
The Baked Beans- AMAZING.
The Coleslaw- Delicious!
And the BBQ was PERFECT.
Hubby & I both ordered sandwiches- but hubby ended up getting another one cause they were so good!
The Chicken & Dumplings were different than we’re used to but make no mistake- they were OUTSTANDING!
We will be back!

They had sold out when I arrived and was technically closed for the day. This friendly gentleman walked outside and said that he just got done smoking some chicken he would sale me. I heard good things about the BBQ here and finally had an opportunity to stop in and jumped at the chance to try it. He asked me if i wanted a plate and i said SURE! He heated up some baked beans and asked me if I wanted some potato salad to go with it. Sounded great and just having rotator cuff surgery i was all for having a BBQ chicken dinner since all I would be having for the next several weeks is microwaveable meals lol.
Although he was closed he went through the trouble of fixing me a plate and let me tell you, it was the best BBQ chicken I had in a very long time!!
He told me that he was smoking some BBQ for tomorrow and he asked me for my name and number and would call when it was done. I received a call a few minutes ago letting me know that the BBQ was ready!
You can’t find service like this any more where they make you feel like you are family. Thank you for your hospitality and such friendly service! If I could give 10 stars I would!!

I live nowhere near this place, passing thru & we stopped. It was a “hole in the wall” offa highway. Blink and you may miss it.. but we were greeted in a friendly manner & given options… Unfortunately, all available was BBQ the chicken had just been flipped & wasn’t ready. It was about 4p so I’m not sure if earlier time would be better, but the price & portion of meat is damn good!!
Their sauces (2) both are perfection.
Potato salad was fire too, different than I’ve had..
And just the spirit & good food vibe from those 2 was enough itself!! They have passion in the BBQ bizz!!!
A must try, if in the area!!
