Total blast from the past today!
Jim Stanco and I grabbed lunch at Slider & Blues — and let me tell you, it was like stepping straight back into the early ‘90s. I used to practically live at the original spot on Hillcrest & Northwest Highway from 1990–1994 when Andy and Lou first opened it. Those guys were awesome, and that place was the spot.
The original location eventually closed, but it’s now reopened right across from SMU — and the burgers are just as good as we remember. Same great flavor, same laid-back vibe, and all the nostalgia still intact. It’s amazing how one bite can take you back 30+ years.
Fun fact: the name “Slider & Blues” came from Andy’s two dogs back in the day.
If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and check it out. Some things really do get better with time.

Do not let the look of this place fool you the food is phenomenal! We had the loaded fries and they put unmelted shredded cheese which threw us off. But let me tell you THESE FRIES HIT!! The flavor was insane. Best loaded fries I’ve had in awhile! The smash burgers were great the sliders were excellent. I think the buns they used for the sliders were similar to Hawaiian rolls. This place is a 10/10 for food and quick service, def recommend and would love to come back!

Great diner/old sports bar vibe. You order right when you walk in at the order counter and then sit at your table. And then they quickly deliver your order to your table. I got the chicken Caesar wrap and it was so tasty! I added the fries on the side. The staff were all friendly and overall it was a great/easy dinner! Will definitely be back!

And do yourself a favor: check out the small arcade room next to the dining area! It’s a fantastic, low-key distraction with classics like air hockey and Pop-A-Shot. It’s the perfect place for kids to burn off energy while the grown-ups finish up.

This reboot of the 90’s classic may be a somewhat accurate representation of the original, but a lot misses the mark when compared to modern competitors. The menu is well-conceived, but the burgers, fries and pizzas all fall into the “just fine” category. The salads are a total afterthought, with a lot of room for improvement. The space is fun and casual, with an arcade next door, but you have to go outside to access it. Service is generally friendly, but can be a bit slow. Nevertheless, it’s not a terrible choice to grab a bite with kids if the arcade entertainment outweighs the mediocre food offerings.

This spot has incredible atmosphere with the retro 80’s vibe. Great service too…. However, the food leaves much to be desired.
Cheeseburger was incredibly salty, so much so that I had to choke down the last few bites. Chicken Caesar wrap was soggy and plain. Might have just been a bad visit, but genuinely didn’t enjoy this experience very much.

Slider and Blues is another great option from the Vandelay group. We love the chicken caesar wraps, the burgers, and the sweet potato fries. The food is great quality and is reasonable for what you get. We have already come here multiple times and plan to visit more. We are excited to try many other options from this place.

The food was amazing! We ordered a double meat smash cheeseburger, and it’s easily in my top 3 best burgers ever. The environment is vibrant and welcoming, with incredible service. The aesthetic is also super cool and adds to the experience.
