Slick Mick’s at the Destin Fort Walton Beach Airport is one of those spots you are genuinely glad exists when you are traveling. The location inside VPS makes it incredibly convenient, but what really stands out is how fast and friendly the service is. The staff keeps things moving without ever making you feel rushed, which is exactly what you want before a flight.
The food is solid and reliable. Fresh, hot, and exactly what you need whether you are grabbing breakfast, lunch, or a quick drink. The bar area is welcoming, clean, and a great place to decompress for a few minutes before boarding. It feels local, not generic airport food, which is a big win.
As someone who spends a lot of time helping clients fly in and out of the Destin and Fort Walton Beach area for real estate, I appreciate businesses like Slick Mick’s that give visitors a great first or last impression of the Emerald Coast. Easy, efficient, friendly, and dependable. Highly recommend stopping here if you are flying through VPS.

Pretty tough when you look at the size of the beer glass and mention to the bartender, “Hey, I don’t think this is a 22oz beer,” and hear “No, that’s 22. This is our 16 Oz (holds up 12 oz glass).”
I finished my beer and checked the bottom. 2 oz isn’t a huge deal, but you pay $0.64 per ounce in this airport, and I don’t like to be treated like a fool. Skip the line and the Oz cheating. Go to a gift shop and get a can.

58.00 for a hamburger, philly cheese, 1 fry, and 2 drinks is highway robbery! Does the photo look like it’s worth the extra 3.50 for fries?! The bartender is horrendous. While waiting for our food, we made the grave mistake of sitting at the bar when the bartender told us we needed to sit somewhere else because this was her “busy time.” Ma’am, are the busy time customers in the room with us?! Not one single customer in the 35 minutes we were in the area. Go anywhere else but this bar/restaurant.

$37 for 4 chicken tenders, fries, and one philly cheese steak. Super small portions, too much salt/over-seasoned. On top of that there was a super long wait, ordered our food and the 10 or so people in line behind of us got their food before us.

Had the chicken salad. Sparse amount of chicken on iceberg lettuce. It did have tomatoes, red onion and cucumber. It also was ready in just a few minutes.

I came in to try a Philly but they were out of the Philly meat and several other items. I tried the tenders and fries which took around 15-20 minutes after the wait I took one bite and threw the entire meal away. The fries didn’t taste done they were a little cold and mushy. The tenders looked raw and although they were hot they had no flavor and a weird texture. I would not recommend this food no matter how hungry you may be.

Lou and Ida were so incredibly sweet! They were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I had the chef salad which was just fine for me so I can’t really comment on the rest of the food, but I was happy. Cute little place!

This place couldn’t make it in town with the locals, so what does the county do? Give them the vendor contract at the airport where their mediocre food and absorbent prices won’t put them out of business when locals don’t go.
