For my visit to Slice Bites (Spring Hill, FL) today:
Highest Recommendation. Spring Hill has a new (NY slice) King in town, based on my preferences. I’m a pizza snob and I travel all over the US in the pursuit of pizza. I’ve tried every place in Hernando County and this place is #1.
Owner Nate (and wife) runs this place. He’s coming up on 2 years and his background is in the fine dining space and was new to when starting however he had plenty of bread making experience. There is a LOT of cross over with bread and pizza and I think it’s very beneficial to master bread before pizza as the crust is the foundation to any good pizza.
Nate starts the dough process with a poolish. As you can tell from the excellent cornicione and great oven spring, he’s got great fermentation and launches direct from wooden peel for a screen free pizza.
The cheese is superb, as is the sauce. The texture is unmatched in this area and it reminded me of a classic NY slice, such as Joe’s. Zero flop. Thin profile. Great char. Excellent balanced flavor all around.
They also offer a Detroit style pizza, as well as a Pizza Hoagie. I used to love Pizza Hoagies about 20 years ago!
The craziest part is this excellent slice is only $2.50, and they have a lunch special daily from 11-3 that includes 2 cheese slices AND a drink, for only $5!! ❤️
You may find their adorable 3 year old daughter hanging out and playing with toys in the background. She admitted to loving her daddy’s pizza.

This was my first time at Slice Bites..
The place is nice and tidy/clean, including the bathrooms which is a plus. The people who took our order were friendly and nice.
Now as far as the pizza, the taste was good for a thin crust, it didnt lack any flavor. The sauce was great as well. My only concern was it was a bit soggy closer to the middle. I wasn’t completely disappointed just would have liked it to be a bit more crunchy as a thin slice pizza, but we all have our preferences, This is just my opinion.

I have ordered from them twice. They do not disappoint. Their pizza was fantastic both times we ordered from. They were not overcooked and the sauce to cheese ratio was perfect. It’s so nice to finally have a great pizza place around. I will definitely be coming back here and will recommend this place to everybody.

(Update: In regards to response from owner) – I did not complain about the fact my wife had mistakenly ordered the food incorrectly, and it was nice that you guys tried to help her out, really it’s wonderful…However I am reviewing the food you are serving and how terrible it was in every conceivable way, I would also note that you believe I had “harassed” your wife when I called to offer my feedback regarding the food. I was polite, direct and to the point and in no way was anything I said even remotely close to what someone could consider harassment. You guys took 40 something dollars from us and gave us garbage food. I will scream this from the hill tops until you guys learn how to make pizza. If you are opening a business offering food you should expect to receive feedback and be able to digest it(no pun intended) , learn from it and improve your business organically, just like this is an organic review. ***** Updated 5/27, would give zero stars if possible.
It is Friday night and my wife and I had a craving today for pizza, but our experience with the chains and local places over the years were very poor for what seemed like over priced, and poorly made pizza. We had seen this place had opened near our house and had seen some decent reviews so we decided to give it a shot. We ordered a meats pizza and a pepperoni, pineapple, and bacon (We meant to get Hawaiian, but my wife clicked the wrong button on the order), and when she picked it up at first glance it looked fine. When we got it home and sat down I went to pick up a slice and it went full limp upon my attempts to eat, this was a slippery wet mess of a pizza, the crust was wet and slippery and when I took my first bite all I could taste was salt, this was the saltiest pizza I have ever eaten. We could not finish the pieces. I also noted virtually no sauce whatsoever under this cheese, just some watery pink stuff, this is not how you make pizza, even for Florida standards I was taken aback completely, and for what these guys are charging! I called them to let them know and the woman on the phone didn’t seem that surprised and suggested maybe the cheese was salty, but that they don’t add salt… That was the extent of the conversation. Needless to say we are giving Slice Bites 4 thumbs down , putting this place on our blacklist for pizza.

Check out this deep dish….YUM! Ordered a DD with sausage and it was awesomely delicious. The pie is medium sized which cuts up to four large square slices. I can eat big, I had two slices and was full. The pizza was cooked perfectly! Prices seem right for the size you’re getting. The staff is super friendly too and made the visit that much more pleasant. Slices Bites also offers a daily 2 slice + can of soda for $5! We will be back!! Located off U.S. 19 in the Winn Dixie shopping plaza.
