this was AMAZING. I’ve been craving gizzards so badly and saw this place on google recently. I don’t live super close by so I hadn’t gone yet. as a total coincidence, we happened to be driving by in the area and I told my man to pull over. we had lunch plans somewhere else, but I asked for some gizzards as a snack. we walked in and the cashier was so nice and gave us free sample potato bites! everyone was nice and it came out quick, and the place was clean and the food was fresh. the fryer oil was even clean. after we left, I was raving about the place, and my husband told me he considered telling me that we should cancel our lunch plans and just order more food there and have it for lunch.. we didn’t, but we will be back very soon.

I’ve been here once a while ago during pandemic. Came here again today and the service is still friendly and great! We were trying to figure out what we wanted and they gave us free samples to try. The potatoes and chicken nuggets are soooo good. Crispy and flavorful. My partner loves the Croatian plate. Take a look at the little white menu on the counter. They have some more offerings there too. Pricing is very affordable and food is delicious. I love this place!

My father and our family and my grandfather and family have been coming to Slavkos ever since I can remember (4 generations). Coming thru those doors brings me back to times spent with my family as a child and now as an adult with my daughter’s. My sisters and I have been bringing our immediate family members here for years. Number one reason for me other than being greeted by the kind staff (they must know my face already) ☺️ are definitely the potato nuggets. It’s what I have been telling everyone about in my entire life. I’ve never eaten a better potato nugget. They also sell their own special seasoning that I buy almost ever time I’m out there. I don’t live in San Pedro but It’s definitely worth the trip. If you visit San Pedro you really shouldn’t pass up Slavkos. I tell people just look for the big rooster on top of their restaurant , right on Pacific Ave, can’t miss it. Just talking about this makes me want to go in for some potato nuggets like today ❣️I love this place❣️ Thank you Slavkos for being so awesome.

Friendly service. I was excited to see the cevapcici dinner on the windows and missed the full Croatian plate at the counter. Everything was delicious and super filling. My partner and I could’ve split one plate but we wanted to try everything. Dining room was adorable and food took a second because they made it fresh. Nuggets are always ready to go it looks like.
We’ll be back to try the full Croatian plate, lamb shanks and maybe a fresh spiny lobster?

As I stand here right now with the sweetest gentleman finding so much different variety and so pleased and so happy that I’m able to to get fresh seafood and hot fried chicken with several orders You have to try this place is my new favorite

This place is a hidden gem, at least for people not from Pedro! It is one of the only places in the area that serves real Cevapcici (Balkan-style meat links) and does it right thanks to the family recipe surviving for generations from Croatian immigrants. On top of the Cevapcici, all the fried side dishes (especially the potato nuggets) are amazing, and the place has a nostalgic vibe that makes me want to come back.

CROATIA (via Eat the World Los Angeles) – When you see the large roof-mounted rooster crowing over Pacific Avenue in San Pedro, you know you have arrived at the right place. What began as a poultry butcher in 1922 (yes, 102 years ago!) became more of a fast food restaurant in the 1950’s and 1960’s when they changed locations twice. This gave the opportunity for the Croatian immigrant owners to sneak some foods from back home onto the menu.

Floored with this gem for lunch, lived in San Pedro all my life and until now had a chance to try this place. I ordered some nugs on nugs, deep fried chicken and delectable potato bites $7.50, full, tasty, quick, it can’t be beat. Only the tip of the iceburg for trying food here, definently coming back!
