We’re just passing through town and needed a bite to eat. I am so glad we chose Slackers Bar and Grill! This is a large bar and grill, the employees we interacted with were all kind made sure we had all that we needed. (We taste tested a lot of things.)
Karalena was our waitress- she gave us suggestions when we asked- she knows good food! The old bay shrimp was excellent (coming from someone who doesn’t really eat seafood!!) the garlic Parmesan wings were really good too. But wait- the cheese curd burger was amazing, cooked to perfection as were the homemade chips.
We met the owner; Carlos even! He was approachable and friendly. He shared some history behind this place too. . He really seems to care for his employees as much as he does his community. The Bahamas mama drink I had was just the right sweet/fruity that I need! Thank you so much for a delicious meal and for making this space feel safe for someone who’s already out of my comfort zone and not familiar with the town! There are several different TVs that had sports, nascar races, and even some pillow fighting in a wrestling ring or something showing too. It’s a real chill place! PSA the maple sweet potato cheesecake is really yummy too!
We will be back when we come back to Ft. Lauderdale again!

The regulars are so welcoming. I come in on Thursday nights after work and it’s the perfect after work stop. Bartender Lola on Thursday is very spunky and fast. She will remember anything you tell her. The owners and the staff feel like family. My food is always brought out quickly with a smile.

Lola! Lola! Lola! My friends and I have been coming here for more than 8 years and will continue to do so. Lola (Bartender) has been pivotal in our enjoyment of this establishment. Lola shines with her service and care brighter than the five stars I gave this review. She is always extremely attentive and ensures prompt and correct service. This is the case for all of us, even if she must delegate service to the bar back due to how busy the restaurant is that evening, she always ensures we are taken care of when out for dinner and drinks. I’d give ten stars if I could! Never an issue with waiting or service in any way! If the kitchen makes a mistake, she will take care of it…If there is a mistake with a drink, she will make it right (this never happens). She always takes the best care of us!Be sure to come and enjoy your evening here when she is working….Highly recommend!!!

I’ve been here a few times and this is now the second time they’ve messed up my order. The first time I just threw the food away and didn’t complain, but this time was ridiculous.
My receipt showed exactly what I ordered: medium well burger with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and fries. I also made it clear that I’m allergic to yellow cheese. When I got my food, it had yellow cheese anyway and none of the toppings I asked for.
The entire order was wrong and the allergy note was ignored. That’s not just disappointing, it’s unsafe. Sadly I won’t be coming back.

I have been a loyal, paying customer at Slackers Bar since 2020 and have never had any major issues with staff or management. Over the years, I’ve built genuine connections with many people there and have always been pleasant, respectful, and supportive of the business.
One concern I overlooked for a long time was the owner’s daughter, Sierra, who was often unfriendly and very short with me, usually only asking what I wanted to drink without any engagement. It never bothered me enough to stop coming, because I truly enjoyed the environment and the people I connected with.
On January 10, 2026, I came in and was having a great time, just as I always do. Over the years, if Ric the cook is working, I typically request that he prepare my food. All of the bartenders are aware of this, and I even have his personal number. That evening, I texted him because I assumed he was busy in the kitchen. When I went to the restroom, which is down the same hallway as the kitchen, I saw another cook and simply asked him to get Ric’s attention for me. Ric looked up, and the owner, Celeste, was present and even smiled at me. I told Ric I wanted to place my order and asked if he could prepare my food. I never entered the kitchen or did anything inappropriate.
After that, Celeste came out and gave me a very uncomfortable look. Later, when things slowed down, I spoke to Ric again and was shocked when I was told that someone thought I was trying to “steal food.” That was extremely hurtful and confusing. Ric himself said that plenty of people request him to cook their food. I explained that I didn’t think it was a problem, especially since I’ve been coming there for years, always paying my bill and never causing any issues.
I returned on Monday, January 12, enjoyed myself, paid my bill, and even stood outside talking with people afterward. When I returned again on Wednesday, before I could even sit down, the bar back told me that by request of Celeste and Sierra, I was not to be served and that I should contact them if I had any questions.
I am completely heartbroken and confused by this. After years of being a loyal customer, never having problems, never being disrespectful, and always paying my bill, I was suddenly told not to return with no warning, no conversation, and no explanation.
I truly enjoyed this place and the people I met there, which makes this situation even more painful. I just wish there had been communication instead of being quietly and publicly turned away after supporting this business for so many years.

I come into slackers every Thursday and Sunday night to sit with Bartender Lola. She’s the best. I’ve been her regular for a long time. Tonight I tried Her favorite item on the menu (Shrimp Tacos) and the tacos are amazing. Would highly recommend this bar and the food.

I came in tonight, sat at the bar. I’m not from here the bar regulars are very friendly and make you feel at home. The chicken parmesan is AMAZING. Bartender Lola is the best very friendly and all of my drinks came quickly with a smile. I would recommend coming and sitting with Lola anytime you’re in Ft Lauderdale.

Went here for dinner our first night in town while staying across the hwy of our hotel.
A very welcoming atmosphere, seat yourself convenience, friendly, knowledgeable & easy going wait staff. Lola G was our server. She greeted us with a smile and did a great job acknowledging us and making sure we were well taken care of.
A bunch of tv’s to view a variety of sporting events and shows.
Food was delicious from the old bay shrimp appetizer, to our meal. I had the Schindler Burger (named after a local business), my wife had the Gyro and the beer was ice cold with a large selection to chose from either on tap or in bottles.
I highly recommend stopping at Slackers for a great meal, awesome service, cold drink and a happy, friendly, welcoming atmosphere with family or friends.

I guess this joint has been here about 17 years and it is definitely or should be a favorite of locals. I always find the food to be very good here with a good selection …. Oftentimes not always you got some sassy bartender that makes your experience even better and unfortunately they come and go and it is like one of the things that I look forward to when I go to restaurants with a bar…. I don’t think the food has ever disappointed me and the selection is pretty good my favorite is the blackened quesadilla chicken and their potstickers… Had a full rack of baby back ribs those were delicious today they are part of the Caesar’s rewards system so I get credit for eating here which is also a bonus and they also have a new rewards program themselves….

I came to slackers after a long night at work and was immediately greeted by a blonde bartender with lots of energy. I did not really know what I wanted to drink or eat. And she recommended the Wisconsin beer brats. She(Lola) said that it pairs extremely well with the “slackers Wisconsin amber” I don’t usually drink beer but this one was amazing. I will definitely be back when Lola is working.
