Overall great place, when Im there on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday with great drinks specials and choices, great bartenders but going there on any other day when Robin bartends stay away or beware. She is extremely rude especially when not getting a great tip so beware or stay away on those nights, believe a great tip she be due to great service not that you force your customers to give you a great tip with a nasty attitude. Even afyer I tipped her 40 dollar tip total one night she still chose to be nasty, rude to me of course needing to say something to you as you walk out. Was extremely polite all night now learning some people are just bad people at heart ‍♂️ ‍♂️ ‍♂️

I would have given this place a 5-star review, but based on my recent experience, I have to give a basic 1 star instead. I’ve been a long-time patron and have always been respectful and calm. During the holidays, on a busy Friday night, service was refused by Edith elderly lady with brown hair and accent who stated I made her feel “unsafe,” without explanation or any behavior on my part to justify that claim. The interaction escalated unnecessarily and happened in front of other patrons.
Based on my experience, people of color may want to be cautious, especially during the holidays and on Friday or Saturday nights, when treatment and communication felt noticeably different. Posting this for awareness so others can make informed decisions.

I used to love popping into Skokie House for a casual drink and some pool, but lately it’s been a total drag because of the bartender named Edith. She’s always hostile, barely acknowledges you, and makes the whole experience feel weird and uncomfortable like you’re being watched the entire time instead of welcomed. Zero smiles, no friendliness, just attitude. Compare that to Lynn, who’s always super nice, chatty, and actually makes you want to stay longer. Edith has really killed the vibe here; what was once a chill spot now feels tense and off-putting. Won’t be back if she’s working. Bartenders set the tone, and this one is souring it for everyone. 1/5 stars

Dive bar, but its open until the wee hours. I had a captain and coke and there wasn’t even any ice in it. Bar lady seems like she had a rough life I didn’t complain. Giving two stars instead of 1 because the glass was clean.

Looking for a local watering hole? Look no further. We love riding our bikes to Skokie House and enjoying a bev or few. If you love a divey spot, you’ll love it here!

How delighted I was to find a no-frills, slightly worn out, friendly neighborhood tavern within walking distance from me. Nothing fancy and that’s how I like it.

Stopped in to meet up with a young friend that I’ve known for many years it was a nice place to have a visit. Local bar. It was 9am on Saturday so it wasn’t very busy. Would recommend. The bartender was attentive and interacting with all the customers.

Thought of spending a few minutes with my friends playing pool over a few drinks at Skokie House but met this VERY rude bartender. Felt like we were racially profiled from the second we stepped in. The bartender who was a hispanic/latino lady literally started attacking us. Before we started saying anything she said ”I need 3 forms of ids from each of you before I can let you in, it’s just the state law and i don’t want to end up in jail! Go home and grab your passports if you don’t have them here” I was really shocked at why she would think that I have a passport yet I’m an U.S citizen. She went on to say that I look like I’m 21 and she that’s why she needs of all those forms of ids. The other guest lady who was sitting at the counter tried to say something but she didn’t listen, she returned to watching television with that other guest who was in the bar. My friends and i just left without further discussion. WHO in this day and age walks around with 3 forms of ID including a passport? I had never felt this level of racism in my own country and this lady just made me remember of the color of my skin. I’m an old man with kids who are 8 and 10 years old and doesn’t make sense to be treated this way.
People of color, think twice before going to this place.
