Last night, our group experienced discrimination at this local bar that we feel people should be aware of.
Before we even entered, the bouncer stood outside watching our group. Based on how the rest of the night unfolded, it felt as though we were intentionally targeted from the start.
Once inside, a male member of our group was told he could not remain due to a dress code because he was wearing a tank top that exposed his shoulders. There were no clearly posted dress code policies anywhere at the entrance or inside the bar. In an attempt to comply, he was given a shirt. Meanwhile, a woman in our group removed her shirt and was wearing a spaghetti-strap top, yet staff told us the dress code “does not apply to girls.”
Later, we explained to the initial bouncer that we were there because of a death in our family and were simply out together celebrating his life. Despite this context—and our efforts to comply—the situation escalated.
When we questioned the inconsistency, the bartenders began yelling at us and told our entire group that we were not welcome. We were escorted out of the bar. Once outside, the male member of our group broke down emotionally due to how he had been treated. Several patrons followed us out, laughed at him, and made rude and mocking comments while staff stood by.
The way this situation was handled was unacceptable. The selective enforcement of an unposted dress code, the hostility from staff, and the behavior of other patrons made it clear that this is not a safe or welcoming space for LGBTQ+ individuals. Based on our experience, this is not a business we can support, and we encourage others to consider that before spending their money there.

I am extremely disappointed by how our group was treated. We were there to gather after my brother’s memorial service and celebrate his life, only to be singled out and made to feel unwelcome. Security targeted one member of our group from the LGBTQ community, claiming his tank top violated a dress code that was not posted anywhere—and notably, similar attire on women was not an issue. The handling of the situation was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional from start to finish.
What should have been a supportive, respectful environment during a difficult day turned into an upsetting and discriminatory experience. No one should be treated this way, especially while grieving. I cannot recommend this establishment and will not be returning.If you want, I can also tailor the tone (more formal, more direct, include dates/names, or optimized for Google/Yelp).

This is a fun spot. They have great servers and bartenders, and we were able to reserve a room for a private party. Prices are very affordable for drinks or snacks. They have bouncers posted at the door to keep everyone safe and to make sure that everyone is carded prior to entering. They have a fun atmosphere, and it is a perfect spot to unwind and have a good time. I will definitely be coming back!

I went to Skinny‘s July 12 to listen to a live band that I really like. There was a cover charge, which I expected to pay. But when the bouncer looked at my drivers license and said my middle name out loud and started laughing at me, I was so disappointed in the professionalism of the staff. This continued at the bar when I bought a drink and was charged $4 and when I went back, a different bartender charged me $6 for the same exact drink. I’m not sure why some of the staff were so inconsistent and unprofessional, but it is disappointing. On top of that, I watched the doorman let people in without obviously paying but charge most others. Overall, the bar did not even create a dance floor for the live band. It was awkward in trying to dance and overall a disappointing experience with the establishment.

I had the best experience at Skinny’s yesterday. The bar was packed and I was meeting a friend for a drink after work around 5:00pm. The owner (Skinny) could see that I was searching for a table and come up to me and let me know I could sit at the end of a reserved table that only need 1/2 the table for their party. He did the same thing for a long time patron Jeanine, and we quickly became friends.
I didn’t know that they had a band scheduled to play but “Crooked Kicks” were a nice bonus to the evening.
The food is always delicious, the beer is ice cold, and I’ll be frequenting this bar/grill more often from now on.Thank you Skinny and friendly staff!

Foods great from what I smell while I’m in there but haven’t had the chance to try it yet honestly. Service is prompt and drinks have never been left empty but I give a 4 star because the bartenders are a little over eager. I play darts in the back and it’s like every 5 minutes and asking if I need another drink it feels like. And I give a 3 star for atmosphere merely because the weekend nights can get kind of obnoxious with immature drunks meanwhile there’s a 20yo door man with the only sole purpose is to ID at a certain time and worry 100% about the outside and If you’re inside underage before they get there they don’t come in to enforce anything lmao. Let me guess… cuz they’re underage too.
