Went with the Cooper Sharp with onions and it was next-level — perfectly chopped steak, the cheese melted into every bite, and the onions cooked just right for that sweet, savory balance. The roll held everything together without getting soggy, which is the true test of a great cheesesteak.
Fast service, great flavor, and no shortcuts. This is the kind of spot that reminds you why Philly owns the cheesesteak conversation.
Highly recommend — I’ll be back for another.
The ordering setup is a little unique — you order the cheesesteak at one window and sides at another — but it moves quickly and the staff keeps things organized. Even when it’s busy, the line moves faster than you might expect.
The cheesesteaks themselves are excellent. Plenty of meat, great seasoning, and everything cooked fresh on the grill. If you’re a cheesesteak fan, this is definitely a place worth stopping for.
The location has that classic South Philly feel and a fun energy around it, especially with all the buzz surrounding Skinny Joey. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Philadelphia, it’s a great place to grab an authentic cheesesteak.
Definitely one of the more exciting cheesesteak spots to pop up in the city.
SO,.. My favorite Part was the Paper they wrapped the Steaks in!! Lol! Skinny Joey’s Newspaper articles from his PAST! VERY Cute & Funny! NICE TOUCH!! All and All the Steak was Over flowing and Absolutely Delicious! I could only eat a half. It was so Packed with Meat. So I had some A whole half to bring home and have for later!
I will Definitely Recommend.
I look forward to Dropping in AGAIN!!
Finally placed an order , beef wiz with . Came out in relatively quick time .
I give a plus for the sliced cherry peppers for self service which is a nice touch.
But now to the cheese steak .
First assessment , it was really really messy. I unwrapped it and before getting it all the way unwrapped meat and cheese was coming out , could have been a paper wrapping error or just too much meat in the sandwich. The counter got pretty messy so I can’t imagine if I was eating in the car or something this would have been a huge mess.
As for taste , the meat it good , can definitely tell it’s good ribeye , but this is where I think it actually does it a diss-service calling it a “CHEESESTEAK”. This is a little too gourmet to be called a cheesesteak in my opinion. I can’t quite figure it out , but there is something about the cheese wiz( or sauce) for the matter that they are using some kind of aged cheddar , or there is some seasoning they add to it that makes it too gourmet for what I would call a cheesesteak. This is the biggest disappointment of the sandwich, the bread. Super soggy. It need to be toasted or a harder bread. I think that’s it’s weakest point . Other then that $4 for a soda is also a little steep for it NOT being some extra large size.
It’s set up is kind of silmar to tony Luke’s , right next to the over pass , with parking underneath in time it would be grandfathered in as acceptable behavior.
It’s going to be appealing to some , but I think others will have their disagreements about it. Friendly competition is always good for business when it comes to food.
The place is always busy, so either call in your order early for pickup or be ready to wait around 40 minutes between standing in line and getting your food. Totally worth it though—one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve had in Philly!
