The spot is in a rough looking neighbourhood but the moment we pulled up on the parking on the front a friendly apron wearing man(aka the cook) greeted us, explaining the options we had to order. We ordered the brisket, chicken, ribs and various sides. The brisket was TOP TIER, moist and tender, the chicken juicy and falling off the bone 10/10, the loaded potatoes were also incredible. Highly recommend the spot but just as a heads up it only has like 2 tables so dining in, although it is an option, is not what the spot is made for. Takeaway, of course, is the way to go (that’s what we did). As for the main man, Jay (the cook) THANK YOU for the delicious food, whenever you visit Greece make sure you text us so that we could link up again

No matter the generation that runs this iconic restaurant, the food and service is always above and beyond. The ribs are so tender they fall off the bone, the sausage is juicy, and the brisket is full of flavor. He even ran across the street to get us ice!!! Never have I been treated with such kindness.

Seeking out a bite to eat after nine, I found Skinny Black BBQ on Google maps. It has good reviews, close by and it turned out to be delicious. Two of us ordered the brisket and one of us ordered the chicken. A combination of delicious sides were also ordered. The Mac and Cheese, the green beans and the greens were all outstanding.
The folks working there couldn’t have been any friendlier. Blake, the owner, warmly greeted us when we walked in and the cook was a spectacular chef and an fantastic smoker. He even offered to show us his smoker. Thank you.

First off, thank you for taking us being so close to closing—they were out of everything but ribs and we wanted the ribs! I’ve been craving BBQ. The service was amazing, they were awesome truly great people. The food was heaven. Honestly had to be the best BBQ I’ve had since I’ve moved back to San Antonio. 10/10!

The late night bbq is hard too find ..That said the wood was not season well given all the meat a green n leather flavor..Brisket was tough not good and brown.Ribs meaty but not fall apart chewy ,Chicken cooked well .All the meats was lighty seasoned and overwhelmed buy the wood nonthing good..Chili was good but served cold ..The sides Mac was dry but still ok ,cornbread very good and the yams hit the spot wanted more..Friendly n later hours but the green wood smoked.Never again

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would! To say this place was an absolute disgrace is the least! I placed an order for sausage, ribs, brisket, a chicken sandwich, yams, greens, and potato salad. Spent $140 dollars and this food tastes like trash and can’t even bite through the sausage. The guy even came out an apologized in advance for the brisket and blamed it on his uncle! like whyyy even serve this food to someone… I placed this order to go at 630 via telephone the lady said it would take 30 minutes… I arrived by 7:30 I gave extra time because it’s bbq… I didn’t even get the food till after 9pm… yet I kept hearing the microwave beep time and time again.. I should have known but I support black establishments and gave them the benefit of the doubt… I will never ever be back! $140 wasted on this place. Do yourself a favor and stay away from here! And don’t even try to get an itemized receipt if you do go! I added flash to the picture so you can see it very good!

The RIBS! WTH/OMG like something out of the Flintstones!
It’s about time I find a good BBQ place in San Antonio that is not just expensive sampling sized food! This is grown man sized food!

Yall- when your craving some homemade BBQ visit Skinny black BBQ. Hands down the best spot in town. I see them always working, smoking the meats. Love the vibe of this place and how community based it feels.

I got to say it was worth the driver to get there.
Three meat meal with cake and a drink all for less than $20, got to love it.

I was searching for some BBQ ribs since Texas suppose have the best ribs. Went to a couple BBQ places, wasn’t s satisfied till I came to Skinny Black BBQ. They nailed it! Best BBQ ribs I taste in San Antonio.
