I just had the best sushi of my life. Just north of Bellingham in Birch Bay. You pick up your order and head to the beach 2 min away. It’s the weekend so they’re super busy, so you have to order online and at least an hour in advance. I would wait hours for this. It’s that good.

Tried Skai for the first time and they did not disappoint! Top notch sushi and teriyaki, right near the park. Very nice people and the store is amazing! Lots of unique food items from my youth that brought back some fond memories. I highly recommend stopping by. A great place with awesome food!

The sushi here is DELICIOUS. It’s sushi made to-go, made fresh inside of a convenience store. We got 4 rolls, they are huge and each one was perfect! We were so impressed with the food and kind service. Highly recommend next time you visit Birch Bay!

Fantastic hidden gem! Check hours. Order online (in advance) and they custom-make. It is really worth the wait as they custom make your food (don’t be impatient or attempt to insist/scold/bully to jump line—saw one tone-deaf, huffy human try to). Accommodating to celiac/ gluten-free needs!

My oh my! Delicious. A hidden treasure within the Beachwood General Store, on the road to Birch Bay State Park. We’ve had sushi all over the West Coast and this stuff hangs with any others! Period. The presentation, portions and taste are spectacular. We had the Rainbow, Birch Bay, Rock-n-roll (with Pop Rocks candy!), and the Avocado Bomb for dessert. It is THE BOMB!

WOW. We thought being from Seattle meant we’d already had the best sushi—turns out we were wrong. Sakai absolutely blew us away. The rolls? Mind-blowing. The fish? So fresh it practically melted. The flavors? Next-level.
What really made it special though was the husband-and-wife team running the show—they were amazing and truly delivered! We even came in late with a big order, and they made a fresh batch of rice just for us. That kind of effort and care deserves serious respect.
We walked in skeptical and left raving fans. Sakai is officially part of our annual beach house tradition. Much respect to this team—if you’re anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and go straight here. It’s THAT good.

So this sushi was SO GOOD! Really fresh and tasty. Melt in your mouth fresh. I put 3 ⭐️’s for atmosphere as it’s basically a place to just get take-out. Not a big deal for me but people might expect a restaurant vibe. The employees were super nice as well. My interaction was quick but a very friendly one. The only other thing that took me a bit to calm down about was the price. I’m from Canada and there’s a sushi restaurant on every corner so you can find cheaper prices. Then there’s our exchange rate as well. BUT, after enjoying this sushi so much I would pay for it all over again.
