The food was ! We loved this authentic soul food restaurant! They had everything! We got the fried chicken. It was hot, juicy, crispy, and well seasoned! Like your grandma made it! We also got the oxtail. The were served on a bed of white rice with a great gravy! The were fall off the bone tender and flavorful! We also got the turkey wings and gravy! They did not disappoint! Fall off the bone tender and great gravy! l The sides were just as good as the meat! The Mac and Cheese was as expected but the green beans had so much flavor it felt like love! I highly recommend this place if you’re going through Shavanna! I will return!

While visiting Savannah- My Husband and I searched for “restaurants near me” and “Sisters of the new south” came up. We came through the door and Mama was “in the kitchen” actually she was on the serving line. So sweet!! We ordered a vegetable plate and an oxtail plate- everything on the plates were delicious! Tasty, meaty and tender!

My only complaint was the food was a little salty. I had oxtail that was delicious but a little salty. The cornbread was the best I’ve ever had.

Let me tell you the food was just like Guy described it. It danced on my taste buds. The seasoning was dynamic. The service was phenomenal. Good seating. Portions were too much for me. The atmosphere was one of a kind. Come from anywhere idc to get some of the best soul food the state has to offer! OMM

Today I ordered collards, Mac and cheese, and fried chicken. I lost my receipt, a ,”young” lady who rang me up did not tell me my total or say thank you, this is due to lack of training . The food was fair the greens were tender but very oily and cooked with a generous dossing of sugar. In my opinion (sugar) does not need to be in greens. I like my greens tender and flavored with cooking meat, no cooking meat was present in the serving of greens. I think some upgrades in presentation, and taste would be more appealing for dining in and another visit. Overall, its okay, the chicken and Mac were indeed flavorful. One of the waiters asked me if I was a first time visitor-she gave me a discount and my plate came out to $13, a nice perk.

Great food. Quick service. This is cafeteria style dining with a small dining area. Great soul food.

I was here 4 days ago for my niece birthday celebration from NC, it’s was 9 of us, some of us wasn’t happy at all with our food. I don’t ever have to go back there again, I got fried fish with cabbage, Lima beans and tomatoes and rice my fish had no seasoning my tomatoes and rice was dry no taste, my cabbage and Lima beans was good. I had sweet potato pie, no no no. And I was so disappointed in the cleanliness of this place, I had to ask someone to clean my table off the trash can was overflowing. It was like 6ish/ 7 in the evening but it breaks my heart to see this in a place of business. I saw a mop in the kitchen that was Black/dirty omg , I was scared to go in the restroom, I hope they get this together. Please take this as constructive criticism and not a bash.

My family and I visited during the Thanksgiving holiday. We were looking for a good soul food restaurant, and we found Sisters of the New South! The service was amazing and pure Southern Hospitality! The beautiful ladies that served us were so patient with use and gave use great recommendations on what to eat. They had a $7.99 deal going on at the time, and it was so much food. We were able to take leftovers back to our hotel. Speaking of the food, it was so flavorful and delicious It was like I was eating Sunday dinner at my Aunt’s house. It’s a very family friendly environment. I ordered the smothered pork chops over mashed potatoes with cabbage and mac and cheese which had me in a food coma! My husband ordered the oxtails over rice with collard greens and mac and cheese. The oxtails were so tender and seasoned. My daughters order the fried chicken and fried fish dinner. The fish was fried to order, so it came out hot and fresh! There is no need to add any salt or pepper when ordering their food! We will definitely be back the next time we visit Savannah because of the food and the price is great for a family on a budget! The only downside is the location itself. It does need updating, but everything was clean.

I got mine to go this time but I’ve eaten in at others. If you want a casual and homey atmosphere, this is great.
The food, as always, is delicious. My favorites are the fried chicken and sweet potatoes but there are so many other offerings there.

We have not been in a while and boy have they changed. Chicken was dry, black eye peas had a funky aftertaste, The girl with the braids was there serving up her particular style of hospitality. Our food was served on a Styrofoam plate. Last time we were there we had actual plates. My husband baked chicken was about the size of a quarter. I’m not sure how a chicken could be so small. Mac & cheese was pretty good, but the banana pudding was not worth it. One of the cooks stood in the front on the phone, trying to explain to someone very loudly that since they weren’t dating, he couldn’t possibly cheat on her. I certainly miss the old sisters of the new South.
