The service here was very mediocre. Our waitress wasn’t rude, but she also wasn’t attentive and didn’t even ask us for drink orders. Two of us ordered the chicken sandwich, and one came out half the size of the other, barely covering a quarter of the bun. The bigger issue was that the chicken was raw, shiny, pink, slimy, and gross tasting. That alone makes this place not worth returning to. Honestly, I would have preferred a chicken sandwich from Culver’s.

We pass by this place all the time and it’s always packed! We went for brunch on Memorial Day mid morning for brunch and it was crowded. We were told it would be about 15 minutes for booth seating, but within 10 minutes we were being seated.

Service was fantastic! Shout out to Maddy, our server, who was quick, attentive and really willing to offer suggestions and descriptions along the way. We had the classic breakfast – our daughter had the big classic egg breakfast with one pancake and they were willing to add strawberries & choc chips in it – definitely making her happy! My husband had the meatloaf hash, really creative twist on a classic that he said was delicious.

Cool vibe, love the decor! Lots of seating and arranged so it really didn’t feel like you were sitting close to anyone else. Outside tables, weather permitting.

Street parking – easier on the weekends than during the weekdays. Really conveniently located. We can’t wait to go back to try the lunch options and pie! Put on your “Must Try” list.

We stopped in comet Café for breakfast always wanted to try this place out ever since DDD. Service was good we sat right away no wait. Unfortunately the food was just average or slightly below that I got the bacon pancakes, but pancake was so dry I finish a hole thing of Hot maple syrup. That’s the only thing I really liked. I only got the pancakes cause we planned on making a few stops that day for food. If I come back it would be only to try the dinner service… skip the breakfast.

My two teen daughters, grandma, and myself came to Milwaukee for an overnight trip. We were recommended by quite a few people to check out Comet Cafe. Oh my god am I glad we did. Our food was absolutely incredible, the fries were delicious, and that cherry cola I got? Life-changing! I haven’t had a ✨real✨ cherry syrup cola like that in SO long. Our waitress was wonderful as well. My kids had said she was a newer waitress there and if no one had told me, I would never have known. She was so sweet, helpful, knowledgeable of the menu, and came to check in at all the right times. I can’t remember her name for the life of me, but she had a coffee cup and a glass tattoo on the back of her leg.

In Milwaukee again and decided to eat the Comet Cafe which seems to have a following. I ordered the compact turkey dinner, a featured meal. It is essentially a complete turkey dinner rolled into a ball and fried. Very efficient to eat and it was pretty good. The servers were attentive. I would return and try other things from the diverse menu.

Wow, favorite place to eat! We went in for an early dinner and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the tomato and cheese sandwich with the cauliflower soup. It was delicious and I got the gluten free bun which was fresh. Our waiter, Cole was incredible with excellent service. This was a night to remember and they were super kid friendly.

Inviting, and delicious, highly recommend.

Tables and layout reminded me of a diner but the food was way better than any diner I’ve ever been to.
Menu had classic diner dishes but presentation and flavor was superb and unique.
Great portions that were filling and mouthwatering with every bite.
Service was friendly and attentive, very fitting of this incredible place.

A long-standing east side institution for good reasons.
The menu options, food, and service are excellent. We had the hummus appetizer, the Rachel sandwich, tomato soup, and compact turkey dinner. We also took home a couple of slices of their HoneyPie offerings.
Very casual diner atmosphere that also has a full bar. Seating at either the bar or booths. Outdoor seating on the sidewalk during warmer months.
Each side of the bar features one TV, so this isn’t a place for those looking to catch a game – it’s more of a social setting.
I saw only one bathroom, which is unisex, which is dated but functional and clean.
As with most places in this area, there is no parking lot. I was able to find free street parking within a block at 5:00pm on a Saturday.

Cool vibey diner with a large brunch menu. We had the fried chicken in biscuit with hash browns which was reported to me to be very good. I had the pork belly with Cheesy Grits and it was fair. The pork belly was dried out and to tough to eat. The grits lacked dimension but the red gravy helped. The blood Mary was decent and came with a side car of lager beer, a Milwaukee tradition. The service was very good. I would come back and try something else. I recommend checking out this eclectic diner.

We were long overdue for a dinner at Comet Cafe and we were not disappointed when we dined with them last night! Comet is a Milwaukee mainstay and everything we had was delicious! I had the open faced meatloaf sandwich which was just as good as I remembered.

We also were by recently for brunch which was equally as good, I had the biscuits and gravy and it did not disappoint!

Overall good food, service and atmosphere! Highly recommend and we will be back

(PS Don’t forget to get a slice of pie!)
