Today was my first time visiting, and I couldn’t rave how great of a place this was. From the moment that I called the owner answered, and she was polite very knowledgeable of her food and able to answer all of my questions. I placed my order over the phone and headed over. I selected the turkey chops, smothered and gravy and into my surprise. They were amazing. They weren’t overly salty or seasoned like many people do their gravy. The batter was not falling off of the chops. It was pleasant of the ratio to sauce on the meat. For sides, I had the mac & cheese, which had a little bit too much garlic. The classic homestyle would’ve been great with my meal as I also had garlic mashed potatoes, so the power of the garlic from both the potatoes and the mac & cheese was a little overwhelming. I was glad that I also got rice with gravy on the side as it was also really good. Now, baby, let me tell you about this cornbread. It taste just like cake. I literally stood at my counter and ate it Out of the container. I will definitely be going back as I would like to try some of her Basa fried fish and fries so I would love to go back for a lunch

I can’t give a accurate review because I drove to this location on Sunday at 4 PM and they were closed even though their business hours say they are open until 8 PM. They don’t have any social media pages so there’s no way to tell when they are open or when they are closed.

Came from Kansas City Missouri to eat here, the owner is definitely a gift to everyone. Personality, kindness , patience and just beautiful! Now the food!!!! My husband had the fish and I couldn’t stop eating it! Cooked to perfection! I had the chicken wings and they were excellent! Favor, cooked perfectly! Now the banana pudding cake…you’ll never find this taste any were else in the world. If you’re in the area you deserve to treat yourself or you are missing out.

I was craving soul food, and it’s hard to find a quality spot when you’ve had it in the South and on the East Coast, where warmth and good service are just as much a part of the experience as the food itself. I decided to give this place a try because it looked promising and was listed as open online. I called twice hoping to place a pickup order for the first time, but no one answered. Since it was still two hours before closing, I decided to drive there anyway only to find the restaurant closed, even though Google clearly showed it as open.
Really disappointing first experience. I genuinely wanted to support a local business, but reliability and communication are just as important as good food. Unfortunately, this experience didn’t inspire confidence to return so don’t waste your time if it’s your first time.

One of the best fried chicken in a long time. It looks dry but there’s a lot of juice and flavor once you get into it. If it was delivered I don’t think it would taste as good. The fried cod was good but not great because it wasn’t juicy or buttery soft.
The cornbread sides were yummy. The Mac and cheese was cheeeeesy and thick and medium spicy. Collard greens were normal. Green beans were sweet and yummy. Fries were normal fries.
I asked for tap water since I didn’t want a drink and the server looked surprised (and partly disgusted because I wanted faucet water?) and asked if I wanted bottled water instead. I said sure so we could end the conversation and didn’t see the charge on the final receipt. I wasn’t sure if the server forgot to add it or bottled water is free. Overall not a complaint but if you want to avoid drink confusion, either don’t order water or bring your own lol

I’m giving 5 stars even though the spicy Mac n cheese threw me waaayy off! I will not be ordering it again. There really should be a disclaimer on the menu when food is spicy. Not everyone likes spicy. Some people’s stomachs and throats can’t handle spicy due to medical condition having what’s called GERD. It’s not a cooks decision on what’s not really spicy. I hope they consider this and put it on the menu description of the Mac n cheese. The catfish was piping hot, seasoned, and fried just right! The collards were good. The cornbread could’ve been bigger, but it was good, and the peach cobbler was good as well(also could’ve been larger portion). I would’ve preferred bigger portions of cornbread, collards and dessert, with just 3 pieces of fish instead of 7. Nonetheless, I recommend this place and I will be returning to try other dishes. Also, the service was great!

It is a little quaint place with delicious food. We had the fried catfish, rice w/ gravy and fried cabbage. The fish was made to order, so it came out perfect. The meal was so good we had to try the dessert…. to be continued!!!

Best Soul Food I’ve had sense moving to California. The staff are super friendly as well. Just like going to Grandma’s Sunday Dinner for some good ol Southern cooking. So good we came back the next night.
