Simply Sonya’s is officially in my rotation. From the first bite, you can tell the food is made with intention. The wings were perfectly crisp and well-seasoned, the mac & cheese was rich and creamy, and the yams had that sweet, slow-cooked flavor that tastes like home. The entrees over rice were hearty and full of flavor and they give generous portions across the board. If you’re looking for a tasty appetizer, the soul food rolls will get the party started.
The vibe is laid-back and welcoming, making it a great spot to catch up with friends or wind down after a long day. If you’re looking for comfort food done right, this is it. Check out their weekend events, definitely one of the better lounge-style spots in the area.

I ordered my food to-go at 3:03 PM. Over the phone they said it would be 15 minutes. I Entered the restaurant at 3:20pm. I didn’t not receive my food until 3:32 PM. Upon entering the restaurant, I see a sign that says the Restaurant adds a 20% gratuity to every check Including to go orders. The food that I purchased was $16 According to the menu. And after taxes and gratuity, it came up to $20 and some change. By that time I was already there so I didn’t back out, had I known that there would be a gratuity I wouldn’t have ate there in the first place. Food is already high and I don’t need any extra fees at the moment. Once I received my food at 3:32 PM. I immediately felt that the plate was very light. Didn’t feel like it had much food in it at all which it did not. so I thought maybe this is one of those restaurants that don’t give you much but the taste makes up for it.WRONG! When I got to my car, I checked my plate and I immediately said It looks bland. And that’s exactly what it was bland no flavor no seasoning at all. Mac & cheese Was completely separated from each other if that makes sense it was curdled. cabbage once again, very bland just tasted like they cut it and boiled it in a pot. The salmon patties were decent But once again, not much flavor there. The cornbread was dry, but I don’t expect much from to-go cornbread. But regarding the taste, it was not sweet Or anything. Never worth $20 nor $16. Not to mention ln my opinion the food looks nothing like the pictures online. It seems like every restaurant that sits in the building that they are in never does well. Within the last five years at least 3 restaurants have been there and It seems like every one they put there Is no good. And for them to be charging the 20% gratuity, I would think the food would speak for that, but it absolutely did not.

Went to the comedy show and had an Amazing Time!!! Food was wonderful ESPECIALLY THE WINGS!!! I met Miss Simply Sonya (who was nothing simple!!!) Beautiful inside and out and her husband Michael! I missed the Comedy Show that I had to pay for but the Host gave me an appetizer on the house! I thought that was very gracious! Drinks were good also! I don’t really drink but this was an occasion!!!!! It’s Cozy not too big. DJ was ok!! I’m expecting great things!

I truly love supporting locally owned businesses, so I was very excited to experience their new location. The customer service was amazing, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. You can tell they care about their guests. My only small note was that my chicken was cooked a little more than I personally prefer, but everything else was great. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I definitely look forward to coming back and trying them again.

Everything about this little gem was nice. The dish was proportioned well, servers were on point, prices were reasonable however, I didn’t like not having a choice in how much gratuity to leave, it should be suggested 5, 10 or 20%, but they already add it into your bill, other than that it’s worth visiting.

We 2 orders for $45.10! We need a redo! MeatLoaf/Mac&Cheese/ Collard Greens No Smoked Turkey Neck which was NOT in my Greens and NO Roll! It was DELICIOUS though! 2nd order Chicken Fried way to hard and NO Potato Salad as ordered gave Collard Greens instead! Ratings we gave a 3.5 but we will return for something different! Blessings! My experience here was Simply Amazing!!!! The food was seasoned and cooked too perfection!!!! The atmosphere is family friendly during the day, and grown and sexxy at night!! Nothing is too pricey! The staff is sweet humble with that down south charm Winston-Salem is known for. I recommend this place for all your dining needs except breakfast of course! Come on out and enjoy! You won’t be disappointed if just keeps getting better and better!
