I tried the Shahi Paneer because I had never tried it before, it was so tasty!! I’m a huge Chicken Tikka Masala fan, but today the Shahi stole the show!!
My favorite dish is now the curry chicken – LOADED with garlic, ginger and fenugreek. I prefer a garlic curry that is less creamy and this dish is spectacular.
Spice level has been great on all dishes we have tried. We like it spicy, and the medium is more of a medium+ but that’s how we like it.
Suggestions:
– I wish there was an option to substitute paneer instead of chicken for my favorite curry (that i mentioned above) when ordering from the website.
– The tikka masala is a tad on the oily side. After the leftovers sit in the fridge it gets better, but my husband made a comment about it being overly oily the last time we got it. I don’t experience that with my curry chicken.
– Please consider adding coconut korma and vindaloo to your offerings in the future.
The pricing is right in line with other indian restaurants. When I looked at them online it appeared to be a little higher than others, but when I looked over the menu in person it was lower.
We had the garlic naan, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, and mango lassi.
The naan was superb, it was soft and flavorful without being overpowering. I think they had just the right amount of garlic, and I appreciate that they had some fresh garlic baked into the naan rather than just dusting it with garlic powder.
The butter chicken was creamy and everything I expected from the dish. One note that applies to both of the curries, the chicken was tender and juicy. They used tandoori chicken and while sometimes you can get a dry breast, that was not the case here. It was the most tender chicken I have had. I was really pleased when I had my first bite.
The chicken tikka was very flavorful. They had chopped bell peppers in the sauce. Sometimes I feel like establishments add veggies to the sauces and go light on the protein as a cost reduction technique, that was not the case here. While I was not expecting their presence, it did not detract from the dish. They were cooked to tender, but we’re not mushy. I feel they were a nice addition to the dish. We had ordered all of our dishes mild (my wife is more a light weight in the heat department), and this dish came out closer to medium. It was unclear if it is how the dish normally is or if it was an error. That said, it was still delicious and my wife was still able to eat it and enjoy it.
I was particularly excited about the tandoori chicken as our other main indian food provider does not carry this dish, and I was looking forward to it. It does take a little longer to prepare (they said 30 minutes, but when it came out, it felt like it was faster than that, but it did take longer than the rest of the meal). As with the chicken in the curries, it was very soft and juicy. This has a base heat of medium, so if you have a hard time with spice, be aware, however it would be shame to not try it. It was worth the wait.
The mango lassi was sweet and a bit on the thick side, not in a negative way, but in a creamy substantial way. Other places it is runnier, however I enjoyed it this way. It was not hard to drink through a straw which is the main deal breaker for me and drinks.
For me, I am grateful for this addition to our restaurants out here on this side of the valley. It is my hope they are kept busy enough to make them seek out a larger venue (hopefully out in Eagle Mountain city center–hey, I can dream). If you find yourself in the fence, give them a try. I for one was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, because I was worried it would more of a fast food style, given the location. My worry was unfounded and I will be coming back.
