Stayed in Mesa a few weeks and the only Regret about simpletons is I didn’t find out about it till my last few days. We ate there 3 times in a day and a half. Fish and shrimp light and tender. The pic. Is from breakfast. As a restaurant it’s worthy of praise. But it’s also a local bar with good sound played just right. Eclectic comes to mind. The locals don’t know lucky they are. Generally the mood is mellow. So relax feel the vibe take your time. Good food takes a while to prepare.

The food was better than I expected. My family and I had a great time here. It was really low-key on a Sunday night so we were able to play shuffleboard. They also have darts and karaoke. A great place to watch all my favorite sports.

Simpletons is a local unknown eats cozy restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere with lots of tv’s. The prices are reasonable, making it a great spot for a casual meal. Had a chance to stop by there this week. It’s a cute little hole in the wall bar. Prices are reasonable if not great. There are daily drink specials. I ordered the Rueben. It was great! I’ll be back to this spot. A nice little spot for when you want to chill and simply have a drink without breaking the bank.

Went on a Thursday night to sing karaoke at a birthday party. Plenty of parking. The singer list was quite long, with over 30 people there to sing, most not from the birthday party. So we only sang twice. The sound system was excellent.
The bar is shaped a bit like a triangle, entering at the corner. Lots of smokers huddled outside the front door. Plenty of comfortable seating inside.
Food was fairly standard pub fare, and I had a BLT with turkey and avocado. It was solid. Fries were solid. Shrimp appetizer was fine.
Service from the KJ was excellent. Service from the wait staff was incredibly slow and indifferent at best. It felt like we were an inconvenience to them. I had to repeatedly go to the bar to find my server and remind them about orders they never put in or never brought. They then tried to blame the bartender. There was a lot of negative energy and lack of accountability among the staff.
Ended up leaving to go somewhere happier, and I don’t see myself returning. But it’s a 25 minute drive for me. If I was in a nearby neighborhood, I’d give it another try to see if the owner and staff worked out the service issues. Cheers!

Hole in the wall feel but very clean. Lots of TVs with all different sports playing. Patrons are mostly regulars but I was greeted by a very friendly bartender like I’d been coming for years. I’d recommend this place and I’ll be coming back.

Our favorite spot! It’s the first spot we want to go if we have the time. The sliders, wings, and fried pickles are our faves, but all the food is great. We unexpectedly ended up back at Simpletons in Mesa! What a great place! I used to live over by this place and then, frequented often but that was 15/20 years ago. They have always had the best food and drinks for a good value and they did not let us down! Tucked into the west corner of the Fry’s grocery shopping complex, Simpleton’s is easy to overlook! It doesn’t look that special from the outside but should you venture inside, you’re in for a treat! My favorite thing about this little divey local hangout? The ambience and the people! We are greeted with genuine smiles and warm welcomes. We sit and are immediately met with our waitress who is knowledgeable and sweet with a ready laugh and smile. She answers all our questions, makes some great recommendations and leaves us with a wink and a smile. Then we turn our attention to karaoke and the ASU game! Our songs were applauded boisterously and just about everyone in the place made their way over to our table to compliment us and introduce themselves and visit a bit. The food was right out, hot wings and chicken nachos! All of it was exactly what we wanted and we proceeded to eat, drink and make merry! We stayed much longer than we planned because we were having such a wonderful time! We prepared to leave just after last call and were very moved by the other patrons insistent invitations that we return the next week! I totally recommend Simpleton’s to anyone who likes good food, good service and having a great time! Be warned, the wings are a little hotter than expected and the people are magnetically fun, easy going and ready to party so its not easy to leave!! Overall, ours was an unexpected visit to the past which elevated the night in ways we couldn’t have anticipated! Simpleton’s! Still a great little place with above average food and service. And, if I do say so myself, a few awesome singers for your entertainment! See you Saturday night at Simpleton’s!
