Stopped here with my 87 year old mother. She enjoyed her grilled salmon meal, her asparagus was delicious (yes I swiped a spear!) and my walleye was great. We also took two desserts home to try… we were a bit full. The lemon blueberry crumble–YUM! and a chocolate chunk brownie–so fudgy!

Family ordered fried walleye and fried shrimp. They raved about the food and the sauces. I had the fried catfish and house sauce. Perfection!! As a transplant from the south, I’ve been craving good catfish. I’m sold!! Will definitely be back!! Owner is so personable and welcoming. Excellent experience.

The tartar sauce was great. Everything else was a mistake. Fish was OK, you could tell not fresh. Batter was good but fish not fresh. The Tablespoon of coleslaw was dismal. The chips were underdone and awful. Too expensive for what was provided. Tried to get a sample. Not available. Substitute any side and was charged extra. Ended up throwing out 90% of the $15 meal. Still not sure if I was charged again for the purchase as the counter person did not think my card went through. Did sign and say no receipt. Was asked to run my card again.

Wow…the owner is on-site to take customer orders! He’s very patient, kind and jovial! He provided descriptive run-downs of ingredients and process. But, let’s get to the food. AMAZING!!! Hands down the best fish around! Fish and shrimp can be grilled or beer-battered. The owner makes his beer batter fresh every day and uses Leinenkugal Beer for the batter! I had the Cod and my wife had the Red Snapper…both were exquisite in flavor and texture! We also had the Coconut Butterfly Beer Battered Shrimp…absolute delicacy at its finest! One of the unique features are the Hush Puppies!!! You can’t find those anywhere in this neck of the woods, but Silver Hooks makes them and they are mouth-watering treats to compliment any of the entrees! The owner also makes a broad variety of incredible signature dipping sauces! We tried four of them and his sauces simply can not be matched by how they burst with multiple spheres of flavor. If you want to get flavor-punched in the mouth like never before, you have to give Silver Hooks a try! For all of you Fish Fry lovers….you don’t have to wait for Friday to roll around! Silver Hooks is the Home of the Everyday Fish Fry!

We both had walleye sandwiches. One was grilled, one was fried. Fish was good but a little fancier bun would be in order, for the price. The sauces were very good (homemade). I like my French fries a little crisper, but they were fine. The owner was very nice and treated us well. I wish that I would have tried the green beans.

Cod with fries were very comparable to most eat in restaurants. Cooked to order. Very good food. Took maybe 8-10 min for me. Fries were thin, possibly even cut in house? Really good, but could have used a salt packet and free BBQ sauce not provided in takeout container and were a bit cold. I feel like the $2 for an add-on small fountain pop to a meal was excessive, but a lot of places do that these days. I will take out again and bring back to work to eat. Overall very good experience and I suspect a local owner worth supporting. And also, they have a few higher end varieties of fish if cod isn’t your thing including walleye which I will likely try next week. 4.5 stars, rounded up

I ordered the #1 fried cod combo substituting hush puppies for the chips. The order came out promptly. It was terrific. The homemade sauces are what set the meal apart from other places. They have a huge variety. The owner and cook were very personable too!

The food was amazing! My husband said it’s the best fried chicken he’s had in a long time. My fried cod was perfect…the batter was light & crispy & taste, and the fish itself was hot and delicious.

Really disappointed. The fish had good flavor but it wasn’t crisp. It fell apart easily and very greasy. The fish sat on the fries which made them inedible. They were soggy. We also got a chicken sandwich. Very expensive for what you get which is quite literally one small chicken tender. For $10?! Sadly Popeyes chicken sandwiches and even McDonald’s chicken sandwiches were better. Both meals came with a TASTE of coleslaw I say that because the side is so incredible tiny and with even the tiny cup wasn’t filled to the top making it a even smaller portion. It was one spoon full and it was gone. I wish I was exaggerating. I wouldn’t go here again especially with how expensive it was for what your getting.
