The food is below average and they took quite a while to prepare it – which is understandable given that they were busy.

I wish I had read more reviews before coming here because my experience is well in line with some of the other posters.

Tamarind duck – the sauce was great but the duck was pretty average and rubbery.
Nasi goreng – I’m not sure what happened here. Mushy rice with Greg’s curry powder is the closest thing I could come to describing it
Basil chicken – super oily and not very tasty
Stir fried noodles – bland

I really wanted to prove a bad review wrong but I have to say that R. Ouhel’s review was a fair assessment. I’m sure others may really enjoy this style of Thai, but the flavor profiles were really atypical.

I ordered the sizzling beef – based on a positive review and was disappointed. It was very sweet and tasted like ketchup. Another at the table ordered the tom yum soup – which had a unique type of seasoning (Thai ginger?). Again, I’m sure others enjoy this take on Thai (this restaurant was very busy!) but I rate based on my tastes.

We did enjoy the prawn spring rolls and chicken satay. These were very good. The satay is lightly fried, which was an interesting and pleasant take on the dish. The tamarind sauce was also good.

The staff was friendly and kind but very focused on take out orders.

Lovely staff, wonderful food, and beautiful atmosphere. Although we stuck to one of our usual choices of dishes, it’s nice to see a variation of options on the menu. I’m looking forward to coming back soon!

(Warning: unimpressed Jafa’s review below).

Ok, lesson learned once again: don’t trust ratings of regional Asian restaurants as most come from kiwi locals who are seemingly more than happy to be ripped off and possibly can’t tell what an authentic Thai cuisine should look like. I guess folks here have smaller mortgages so being taken for a ride is not a biggie.

Green curry watery and mostly filled with veggies (big cold chunks, let uncle Roger see I dare you, $27.90), tiny portions of rice, beef salad ok but not really authentic ($25.9), plus cold salad leaves on top.

But hey, if you want more rice it’s just $4.50!

Nice ambience though.

PS: For all you locals, give any Auckland Thai restaurant a go, far better flavour, bigger portion and price wise you’ll break even with the fuel to travel there and back.

Thai-adjacent food that was tasty. Everything was just a bit… off. Nothing tasted quite like you’d expect.

Shrimp spring rolls that were served deep fried instead of the fresh style (rice paper wrapped), chicken satay that had a chunky sauce with no peanut flavor and chicken that had been fried (without much or any curry), drunken noodles on very thin noodles, sizzling beef drenched in hoisin sauce, and Tom Yum with a flavor very difficult to put your finger on.

Our waitress wasn’t able to answer many questions either which was unfortunate.

That being said, the food tasted pretty good, but sadly not like any Thai food my party has ever had before.

A fantastic warm Thai ambience. The courtyard was well covered with heating and Thai decor to give a wonderful dining experience. Fantastic service and the lemon herb stir-fry with rice and calamari was sublime! Highly recommend!

Got the seafood pad Thai and a mixed platter. Pad Thai was really tasty. The satay chicken was dry unfortunately. Overall good place to eat out.

Nice food, Massaman and Sweet Peanut curries
Decent serving, tasty but a little bit sweet for our preferences, still nice.
“Kiwi Hot” – isn’t that hot, I was loath to order “Thai Hot” … Because I’ve had local Thai (standard) and that was too hot (in Bangkok)

Quick service & great food, I can see why it’s so popular. A few annoying sandflies about, but nothing major. We shared an entree & I had crispy duck on a sizzling platter which I really enjoyed.

We booked and were happy we did as it was very full. Wonderful servce and friendly staff. Reasonably priced food arrived quickly and was delicious. The mains were very large, I would recommend smaller eaters share a main. They were happy to offer a doggie bag .The interior was tastefully decorated and there was seating outdoors. Would highly recmmend this restaurant
