This is a local “secret” that unfortunately too many know about. They are only open on Friday starting at 8:00 am. But the line forms before that. You can get on an email to read about that week’s specials.

Every time I visit Truckee, I try to make sure I’m there on Friday so I can go get my pastry fix at Sierra Bakehouse. Everything we have purchased from pastries, cookies, bread and all the savory options, have been delicious. So fresh and just yummy. Staff is efficient, helpful and friendly. It’s worth getting up early to grab a spot in line.

The word Unique barely scratch’s the surface with this place, the flavours that come from their goods both sweet and savoury are beyond any other bakery. You wait in line because it’s worth it! Truly a special place!

Fridays!! That’s the only day this unassuming door opens to the public to give us our pick of sweet and savory delights crafted by five or six different bakers. They offer a wide variety – from breads to granola and cookies to pizza and savory tarts (the one with spinich and potato was amazing!) Note: there is nowhere to sit inside but there is a picnic table outside by the parking lot.

This place is just awesome. Very unique pastry combinations. We especially love their Raspberry linzer bars, granola, quiche. Oh their porridge bread is amazing too. Ganache brownies are amazing too. Well worth waiting in line for!
