I would not recommend getting food from here if you’re craving good barbecue. Don’t try to ask for substitutions. Maybe it’s a rule imposed by the owner so I can’t blame the front of the house but it could have been less combative and handled better. Sad food can be excused by nice service but unfortunately both weren’t great. I wanted to like this spot.

Food is not great and not smoked, probably cooked in an oven. Had the chicken (4/10), kielbasa (5/10), and brisket (3/10) and all were dry, overcooked, and way too salty.

The spicy barbeque sauce (3/10) was very sweet and it’s only saving grace was that it was actually spicy. Use any other sauce.

The mac and cheese (4/10) was also not good and needed salt. It’s that type of Mac and cheese expected at a Boston market with water yellow cheese. Maybe some people prefer that.

Somehow the best part of the meal was the coleslaw (6/10), which also wasn’t great.

First time at sidehack ordering the four meat and two side take out for about 24$. I picked the pulled pork, chicken and double of the brisket with a side of Mac and cheese and southwest corn. The brisket was my favorite, perfect tenderness, tackey flavorful bark and tons of flavor was a 9/10 for me, would absolutely come back for more. The chicken was nice and chopped, not as much smoke flavor as I was looking for, maybe a 7/10 for me, and the pulled pork was not my taste, a bit wet and no smoke flavor, I also prefer my pulled pork to not be as pulled and stringy which might be impacting my review here, 6/10 for me. The barbecue was nice, a bit on the thin and sweeter side but very nice 7.5/10. The sides were incredible, Mac and cheese was great, not soggy but lots of cheese flavor, needed a touch more salt but it was a 9/10 and the southwest corn was amazing and probably my favorite next to the brisket, tons of flavor, 9.5/10.

Awesome value for all the food you get, the 4 meat two side was plenty for my wife and I with left overs. Will absolutely go back for brisket and corn and to try some pies. Would highly recommend!

Brian makes the best smoked meats around. Delicious sides, generous portions, courteous staff and fair prices. I highly recommend trying them if you haven’t yet.

I had pulled pork, sliced brisket, and smoked sausage. All meats were tender, moist, and very flavorful. Large portions and great value for the price. Excellent BBQ overall, and this is coming from someone who grew up eating Texas and Kansas City style.

I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and ice cream to go. The sandwich was overflowing with a perfectly toasted bun. I had enough left over for a second meal. I got the OG sauce which was delicious. That was my first time ever having Windy Ridge ice cream and it was awesome! Both women who worked there were welcoming, friendly and knowledgable.

Best BBQ I’ve had in the north Pittsburgh area. The appetizers are creative and delicious, the portions are generous, the coleslaw tastes like it’s made fresh on site, the mac is thick and creamy, the pulled beef is tender and crispy on the edges, the Texas toast is done right, and they aren’t stingy with the sauce.

Can’t recommend this place enough!!

They also carry Windy Ridge Ice Cream, which is one of the best creameries in the area as well. Overall a killer combo and definitely worth a stop!

I specifically recommend the bacon wrapped jalapeño cream cheese appetizer, it’s amazing.

The buttery toasted bun on the pulled pork sandwich was a decadent touch. Sitting out back at a picnic table in perfect weather felt great. Really tasty, quick and local; would go back for more pulled pork or to try the other menu items. Wishlist would be reducing the Styrofoam and plastic.

Food was okay and could’ve been better had things been seasoned. BBQ was mid level but the service was exceptional.
