This place has a fantastic staff and some of the best food i have had in a very long time that i didn’t cook myself! Side Bar is always one of my first picks for food in Sumter. Smoked everything for the BBQ lovers, and don’t miss out on their Taco Tuesday menu! Pro tip: the Tuesday menu changes, so repeat business is strongly recommended.

My parter and I stayed at the Hyatt downtown and as a local beer lover, I saw this place was next door and had to pay a visit.
I have to shoutout Grayson, our server, for being so genuinely kind and making our experience all the better.
Though there aren’t many plant-based options on the menu, I was able to work with them to create a delicious vegan strawberry salad and vegetarian-friendly burrito.
If you don’t have room for food, you should definitely come by to enjoy the patio and have one of their homemade frozen drinks! And of course my favorite, the local beers from around South Carolina and some Sumter-specific brews as well.
The value of the food, drinks, and experience is well worth it.

We stopped in Sumter, SC for the night on our drive from Vermont to Florida. Sidebar was strongly recommended for dinner and did not disappoint. BBQ sandwiches were excellent as well as sides (sweet potato fries, baked beans, cole slaw). There’s also a lot of choices for draft beers and cocktails. We look forward to another dinner at Siidebar on our way back to Vermont next month.

Pleasantly surprised with some well executed, tasty, BBQ and American bar food at a great price point as well. The salad, fried oysters, and dry-rub wings hit the spot. My friend liked her ribs as well. It’s a dining meets bar atmosphere and overall good vibe.

The restaurant is in beautiful downtown Sumter SC. The decor is rustic distressed which is done in a charming chic way. Everything is clean and comfortable. We ordered shrimp and fries and a black bean burger. The food was delicious and the service was great. The menu has a lot to choose from and everything looks delicious. I loved this place and the town.

It was a beautiful day outdoors, so we sat on the patio for the first time. Immediately a familiar face came up and took our order. It has been a while since our last visit. Seeing the same very helpful young man speaks well of the restaurant. Turnover can be a big issue for lower quality restaurants. Our food was tasty. We were spoiled by excellent service and flavor.
