Very good restaurant with some nice spicy options.
I got the spicy fish filet soup, which I’ve had in other restaurants before. Delicious and spicy.
Our waitress was great and friendly.
Everything was ready quickly and looked great upon arrival.
I would definitely go back again.

My husband and I came here and enjoyed quite a variety! We had cheese Rangoon and spicy cold noodles for an appetizer. Both were excellent. For dinner we order four different dishes the pork spare rib hot pot, spicy chicken flaming pan, chicken and broccoli from the Pittsburgh favorite menu, and braised beef brisket with bamboo clay pot (forgot to get a picture). My favorite was the chicken and broccoli. It was the best I’ve had around Pittsburgh. My husband loved the pork spare ribs. They were so crispy and flavorful. We had sooo many delicious leftovers to take home. The best part was the prices were very affordable. We spent under $75 for everything.

We had dinner with a group of friends. The large round table for 8 was very comfortable and made for easy conversation. Our server was friendly, and helpful with our questions about the menu.
Recommended appetizers: Dan Dan Noodles, Steamed Vegetable Dumplings
Recommended entrees: Spicy Chicken in Flaming Pan (delicious, spicy for sure, but more complex than just heat, huge portion), Black Pepper Shrimp with Asparagus

Good food, my friends always come here for birthdays because there are huge tables and lazy susans in the middle – perfect for sharing! The food always hits the spot and you cant go wrong with any of their American-Chinese or authentic options. Service is meh but that is to be expected at any restaurant like this (the main focus is the food). I would recommend coming here for a birthday dinner if you are in a big college friend group!

Review is primarily for service and food for anyone who isn’t me. We ordered a pretty large to-go order for Lunar New Year and I was surprised to see it waiting among boxes of other to-go orders at the appointed time. There were a ton of people inside.

Food was packaged decently. However, as noted on my warning for dietary restrictions, they simply did not care about our request for my nut allergy. Two dishes contained peanuts or walnuts. I sampled the pork rib just to try something “safe” and immediately triggered a light allergic reaction, likely due to cross contamination. I was not able to sample much else, but my friends noted that it was authentic Chinese cuisine and was pretty good.

Food: 4/5
Service: 3/5
Overall: 3.5/5

Stop scrolling through the reviews and just try the restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing! The meat is well cooked and well seasoned, they don’t play around with the spices. The service can be slow understandably because the restaurant is always packed. If you’re gonna be super hungry, I would recommend heading to the restaurant 30-40 mins earlier given the wait time. The food is reasonably priced and worth every dime.

Ordered mapo tofu and Sichuan chicken. Both dishes were mostly just salty. The Sichuan chicken was sub-takeout quality of meat and breading. The tofu and the sauce was brownish as though it has been doused with soy sauce. On the bright side, the service and the ambience was pleasant.

I feel really disappointed and hurt to give this restaurant 1 star. It was go to place in Pittsburgh for Chinese food. But as the time goes they are determined to decrease their quality of foods, increase price and produce tasteless food. Everything from head on shrimp, boiled fish, shredded potato, fish fillet to fish in broth, vegeterian dishes went from top star to tasteless. The owner should focus on food quality not only on profit.

ANOTHER FOODIE’S GEM. A cozy restaurant with pleasant ambiance. TRULY AUTHENTIC TOP 3 (REGIONAL) CHINESE in Pittsburgh, looks very popular with Chinese emigres/visitors and Chinese Americans. It looks busy at both lunch and supper.

It’s truly a dining experience. It has a longish menu that one can enjoy over several visits, as I (and few colleagues) have done. None of that horrible greasy salty sugared Americanized Chinese-like food that is so common. Savor the true Szechuan cuisine: silken sauces, spices and different peppers, tender juicy meats, fresh vegetables, various rich textures.

Recommendations as of August 2022: Bokchoy & black mushrooms, Sichuan eggplant, Spicy Lamb in a pot (silk sauce with vegs & lotus roots), Kung Pao Chicken (crunchy with kick), King Mushrooms with basil (“meaty” vegetarian in a well balanced light sauce), Cumin Lamb (it literally wakes up the palate, uniquely dry sautéed that goes with any sauced veggie entree), my favorite so far: Crispy Pork Shoulder, amazingly tender meat with skin falling off the bone and a rich sauced mixed veggie) — And yes don’t forget the hot black, which freshens the palate between bites from different dishes.

Large servings, best shared between 2-3 people, OR take home for another meal.

Very highly recommended!

It’s very nice inside, and while the food has good unique flavor, it almost doesn’t matter when 70% of your dish is inedible. Its also very spicy so be prepared. I like spicy and after the initial shock you get used to it and get the flavor.

However in the one dish I believe was the chicken flaming pan the chicken was literally all bones and tendons. The other dish was kung pao chicken with odd pieces of chicken with inedible dry pieces of chili pepper and what I would figure are boiled peanuts with an odd texture.

Both dishes had almost no vegetables in them as well, and part of the one I’m pretty sure I tasted soap in it. (Not cilantro, I love cilantro, it did not have it in the dish)

I’d say to try it once as a flavor experience but I could otherwise never recommend this place for anyone who is ordering to actually eat something. I’ve had food here twice and this was the same both times.

Below is a photo to show how much of the dish was inedible next to its container. That’s all bones, tendons, and skin.
