I ordered the garlic chicken and got chicken slathered with chili paste. It was probably a 4.5/5 on your typical Thai restaurant scale, but there was no other discernable flavor. I was so nauseous after eating it all that I had to concentrate on not getting sick on my ride back to work. For what it’s worth, there was an Asian gentlemen two booths down from me who told the waiter that it was the best authentic Sichuan he’d ever had. If your idea of a good time is tough chicken swimming in chili paste then you’d probably love this place. As for me, I should have read the other reviews before coming. I won’t be back.

Amazingly authentic Sichuan cuisine. I was with a Chinese friend that lives in Beijing; she said the Sichuan food here is more authentic than what she can get there. We ordered the yuxiang qiezi, zhong shuijiao, pijiu ya, koushui ji. They were all excellent.

Great place for traditional Chinese food. In the Midwest this can be hard to find, and chances are if you do find a place it is going to have some acculturation in its dishes. They have to sell their food to their customers. However, Sichuan does have a section in the back of its menu that is much more traditional than most places around here. Having been fortunate to have been hosted in China twice for extended stays, my palate has adapted somewhat to traditional Chinese flavors. This is why I greatly appreciated the staff at Sichuan looking after their customers when looking through this section. They want their customers to have a good experience, so if you have been fortunate like I have let them know and they will be very helpful and informative.

Edit to review after I gave the place a second chance and ordered from the “authentic sichuan menu”: This place is a disgrace, even the “Chinese food” is horrible. See new photos below. My “chongqing popcorn chicken” was like Cheetos crossed with chicken nuggets. Nowhere near the real thing. Under no circumstances give this restaurant your business. It’s a shame there is no decent Chinese food on the north side of Indianapolis.

Maybe it is just me but since covid, this place has tanked. Bland food, questionable herb preparation (mongolian beef dosed with black people like milk to cereal), increased prices for very small portions (egg roll the size of your thumb).

I struggled to decide on this review. Being so close to Chinatown in Chicago, I’ve been a little spoiled. The spice level, after specifically asking for additional, was questionable, but I also understand that most of the demographic may find it perfectly suitable. So I rounded up to 3 stars based on the location. The chicken was terrible, both in texture and flavor. The green beans, with added chili’s, were decent. Portions are big but probably not excessively so given the price of it all. Plenty of food. Shame it’s not good enough to eat twice.

Their foods are getting worst through out past two years. The waitress is there not helping customer, but being rude. The worst place ever.

The sichuan name got us excited and they kind off lived up to it. We expected to have more flavor on the food but it was enough to finish off our white rice. Maybe we will come back to try other items.

$$. Sichuan Chinese Restaurant is one of the best places in the U.S. for authentic Sichuan-style Chinese food, without question. They do everything a proper Sichuan-style dish is suppose to do with its different levels of red chili peppers, salt and huajiao (Sichuan pepper): achieves deep, complex and sophisticated flavors, numbs your senses, make you slightly disoriented, and definitely makes you sweat profusely. The daily lunch buffet is an excellent value with typical Chinese, and some of the Americanized-Chinese dishes too. On the weekends (Saturday and Sunday, during brunch-lunch hours) the buffet is quite different, with many Sichuan-style dishes. Their dinner menu (available anytime) is simply enormous with hundreds of choices with incredibly delicious Sichuan delicacies, including: hot pots, stews, soups, noodles, smoked duck, eggplant in red chili sauce, beef tripe medley 夫妻肺片, and dozens of stir-fry and fried rice dishes. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and more than happy to make a dish recommendation.

I ordered the beef chow fun, twice cooked pork and the stir fried green beans. We also got a taro bubble tea. The food was great, but it’s a 4 star for 2 reasons. The noodles for the beef chow fun were the dried type, instead of the freshly made noodles. Also the taro bubble tea was made from the powder instead of the fresh taro root. It was more like a drink than a slushy. Still overall it was a great place with good service. I plan on coming back again.
