Visited the Estancia Mall branch with the same gang from my Mak’s Noodle review—4 of us again. This time, I was the only first-timer. My other three friends had already eaten here before, enjoyed it, and highly recommended it… so expectations were set dangerously high. I do enjoy Thai food occasionally, especially spicy dishes, so I came prepared (mentally, not spice-wise).
We ordered Son-in-Law Eggs, fried fish with tamarind sauce, Kra Pao Chicken, Iberico pork BBQ, Massaman curry (lamb shank), plus mango sticky rice with coconut ice cream and thako for dessert. Total bill came to around ₱6,800, or roughly ₱1,700 per person, inclusive of service charge and VAT.
The good:
The food is great. No regrets here. The Iberico pork BBQ and Massaman curry (lamb shank) were absolute winners – so good I ended up eating two bowls of rice (I usually stop at one, so yes, this is serious). Portions are reasonable and just right for sharing; we managed to finish everything with zero leftovers, which rarely happens. Ambiance is pleasant, the menu has good variety, and service is generally good – attentive staff and dishes came out at a comfortable pace.
The not-so-good:
This is fine dining, so prices aren’t cheap. Definitely not your usual value-for-money Thai place – your wallet will feel it! The salted duck egg wasn’t very salty (good news for those watching their sodium, maybe less exciting for salted egg lovers). The Kra Pao Chicken was a bit hard to bite; a little more tenderness would’ve made it much better.
Final thoughts:
Will I go back? Yes, definitely! Just not too often – maybe once every few months… after I rebuild my food budget. 🙂
Overall, Siam Thai is suitable for groups, dates, or family dining – basically any occasion, as long as you’re ready to pay for good food and a nice dining experience. If you have never tried Siam Thai, what are you waiting for….go give it a try! 🙂
Service can take time, we waited 20-30 minutes before the first dish was served, even if the restaurant was nearly empty.
Ambience is beautiful, like being transported to a Bangkok garden.
NOTE: I uploaded 5 photos. 2 of which show the steel wool in the stir-fried mixed vegetable dish.
I’ve always enjoyed Siam Thai in Pioneer, Kapitolyo. It’s my go-to spot whenever I’m craving Pad Thai, so I was happy to see a branch in Estancia and decided to drop by during a visit. Unfortunately, this visit didn’t live up to my usual Siam Thai experience.
There were quite a few flies in the dining area, which made it hard to fully enjoy the meal. I also found a fly in my Thai Milk Tea, and they had to replace it. To add to that, my Thai stir-fried mixed vegetables had something strange on the plate. When I brought it to the server’s attention, the kitchen confirmed it was steel wool. They were quick to refund the dish, and I appreciated that, but by then I had already lost my appetite.
I’ve had consistently good experiences with Siam Thai in the past, so I’m hoping this was just an off day for the Estancia branch. For now, I can’t confidently recommend this location, but I do hope things improve because I know what the brand is capable of.
The best part was the mango sticky rice. The mangoes were super fresh, and the mango ice cream was pure mango in frozen form (if that makes sense lol) which went perfectly with the warm sticky rice.
I’ve also been to their sports bar in Pioneer Center, which is more casual, but this Estancia spot has a nice fine dining feel. The Thai milk tea was also definitely a must-try! Overall, a great experience!
Great service.
Cant say I have a favorite but I liked their pad Thai. Big serving too. We ordered the fried fish with tamarind hoping it would taste the same as the one we ordered in BKK but no. Different fish and the sauce lacks the tamarind kick. Pork Krapao is also good. Chicken skewers? Super tender!
We will definitely come back with friends.
Catfish Salad and Tom Yum are still superior albeit pricier; you can see though where the price difference went (better cutleries, cleaner tables, better environment overall) and they also made a few tweaks for dishes that are available in both branches. The crispy catfish salad has cashews vs. peanuts and they give out ceramic bowls for your tom yum vs the rubber bowl they give out in the PC branch. All of the dishes we have tried so far are delicious and we’re incredibly chuffed they offer the rare sai ua! We haven’t missed ordering this every time we go; while it could be a bit on the drier side, the taste more than makes up for it and plus points for the grilled garlic they serve on the side.
Though technically not Thai, their beef rendang was one of the best we’ve tried. It was fantastic – beef was soft, sauce flavorful, spice was just right. If you’re not a fan of spicy food, they also care to ask for your preferred spice level. Meanwhile, the solo serving of bagoong rice is good for two people if you’re not big eaters.
Dishes we highly recommend:
– Crispy catfish salad
– Sai ua
– Bagoong rice
– Beef rendang
– Tom yum
– Crab curry
One thing to note though is their Miang kham (betel nut appetizer) is always not available. I hope they find a way to stock this as this is one of our favorites when we go to Thailand.
Overall, 10/10 would recommend and will come back again soon!
• Tom Yum: A standout dish. Incredibly spicy and flavorful, it was served with fresh shrimp and mushrooms. If you enjoy spicy food, this is a must-try.
• Grilled Squid: Decent, but not exceptional. It felt a bit overpriced, and while tasty, I wouldn’t order it again.
• Crab Fried Rice: Delicious and highly recommended.
• Chicken Satay: Outstanding. Easily the best I’ve had in a long time.
• Pad See Ew: Well-cooked and flavorful, though a bit heavy for my taste.
• Spicy Pork (unsure of the exact name): The dish was good, but the pork cut was too fatty for my preference.
Overall, a great spot for Thai cuisine, with some dishes standing out more than others.
Though they had a very attentive and efficient service team, we did not receive our food in the proper order. The Betel Leaf Salad arrived in the middle of the rest of our orders. Wish it arrived first as an appetizer. (It’s fine anyways since it’s just their soft opening.) I didn’t enjoy the salad so much since it is an acquired taste and you have to assemble it yourself, but it is definitely worth trying at least once. It is a unique experience.
We ordered two soups: Tom Yum and Chicken Coconut. The Tom Yum was well-balanced and overall delicious. The Chicken Coconut was pleasant; the chicken thighs inside were cooked well. But the coconut milk was just a bit overpowering and needs to be balanced with something more savory.
The two meat dishes we ordered: Panang Curry and Pork Spareribs were both really satisfying. Great selection of meat cuts and seasoned well.
Their Pandan juice was really refreshing; it was the perfect palate cleanser for their food which may be rich for some.
The Mango Sticky Rice was simple and luscious. Order it, it’s a winner.
They go all out in their effort to prioritize presentation. The food is both tasty and pretty. A lot of their dishes are especially spicy, even for those like me who are used to very spicy food. We ordered mild spice for our soups but it was still quite hot. Still very enjoyable though. They use more fresh chilies rather than dried spice, but that’s what makes their food authentically Thai.
Definitely coming back here.
The crab meat fried rice is my personal
favorite. There was a generous amount of crab meat. The chicken pandan, shrimp patty and tom yum soup are at par with the same dishes my family usually orders from the other well-known restaurants.
What stood out during our recent visit is their service. From the door to the table, from the menu list to photo-ops, one of the staff was always there to attend to us.
Special mention to Sir Lyndon who knew how to engage my kids with a light-hearted conversation.
