We went on a quest to support local restaurants since most places have been closed for several days and we lucked out and found this spot. Definitely a hidden gem. Cozy atmosphere. Friendly service from Rachel and the food was delicious. The Bento box didn’t disappoint and the appetizers were delish. The sushi was fresh. This place won’t disappoint if you are a sushi lover.

Came here for a friends birthday, was an amazing experience! Shoutout Marvin for being an amazing server & for the great matcha ice cream my friend got for free.
Shrimp Calimari portion is a bit small, but it’s very light & crispy and comes with a great sauce.
The Double Pleasure had the best presentation and flavor, followed by the Salmon Roll, then the Shrimp Tempura Roll which had a very nice crunchy texture. The latter 2 are a great value for the potion you get!!
Beautiful resturant and amazing food overall.

We are fortunate to have such a great restaurant in Allen/McKinney area. Sushi is top notch and their wagyu is spot on. There is a Bob’s Steakhouse next door and I would rather go here. I recommend to call and reserve a spot at the sushi bar. The cooks are great to talk to

excellent late dinner on a Friday night here – service was incredibly prompt and courteous, and very proactive in keeping drinks topped off. We got a couple appetizers, including the miso eggplant (highly recommend!), and a few rolls along w the eel rice bowl. The staff was all super friendly and the environment was very clean and polished feeling, and was not too noisy. The quality of the food was excellent, too. Definitely would come back!!

I’ve spent many years in the hospitality and management industry, and I have a deep appreciation when a restaurant truly delivers on every level — and SHUN by Yama Sushi does exactly that. From the inviting ambiance to the exceptional quality of the food, every detail speaks of care and excellence.
A special shoutout to Chef Kenny for his masterful creations, Chef Tony for his professionalism, and our wonderful waitress Lin for her warm, genuine hospitality. The entire house staff was attentive, seamless, and dedicated to making sure every guest is well taken care of.
SHUN is a true gem where culinary artistry meets authentic hospitality. Bravo to the whole team!
Our new favorite spot!

Best place for fresh, flavorful , and eye appealing sushi. Their hot dishes are also great, with a wide variety of options to choose from you can take your pick. Everything was delicious, 10/10 would destroy again

Had a great brunch here, the sushi quality was amazing and they have a wide selection of dishes, as well as drinks. We really enjoyed the specials, especially the tuna, as well as the eel and yakitori. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area, there was plenty of space and tables when we visited on a weekend afternoon but in the evening you might need to book.

The food is full of flavor. By far the best sushi in DFW. Several price options so you can spend a lot or not so much. Top notch service with a very friendly host, a dedicated person for water, dedicated person to remove used plates, even dedicated person for the bill and we also had a great server. Salmon was delicious and so was the fried rice with steak.

Update:
perhaps I’m a bit harsh, I would say the omakase was not worth the price. However, if they use the same quality of ingredients on their regular menu, then it should be good.
Tried their omakase, which is only served few times a week and by reservation only.
It came with 14 courses, started with a delicious filo wrapped jumbo shrimp, and spicy fried edamame, second course was chicken on the skewer then a plate of sashimi from different parts of the world. They were of great quality and very fresh.
Then it was down hill all the way……
We proceeded to have 10 nigiri one after another, fish (sashimi) on top of compacted rice. Of course the fish was fresh but by the time we finished, we felt only a stomach full of rice.
There were no creativities nor varieties for the expensive omakase. We were expecting curated delicacies, but it was just a parade of nigiri.

Fun fact, I actually had the honor of doing Shun’s grand opening décor, but I never sat down to enjoy a meal there until tonight. My friend invited me to dinner, and from the very first bite I was blown away. The flavors were out of this world; we started with a roll and an appetizer, and I was highly impressed. Then came an Old Fashioned to sip on and a rice bowl that literally cooks as you mix it… wow. Just wow!
This place is absolutely amazing. Little did I know that the same spot where I’ve been putting balloons up would end up becoming one of my new favorite restaurants. Consider me a loyal customer from here on out! ✨
