The Rasam, sambar vada, and dosas were solid and comforting—clean, familiar flavors and well-seasoned, though not especially adventurous or memorable. The dosa was crisp and the rasam had a nice tang, while the sambar vada was hearty and satisfying.
Service needs improvement. All dishes were brought at the same time rather than paced, which made it harder to enjoy the dosa at its crispest. We explicitly asked for no raw onions on the sambar vada, but onions were added. The staff acknowledged the mistake and re-made the dish, which we appreciated, but the slip showed some communication gaps.
The place felt casual and welcoming, good for a relaxed meal. Portions were fair and pricing felt reasonable for the quality.
Although I dont plan to visit again, it is worth a visit for straightforward South Indian dishes; expect dependable flavors but uneven service. If you have a special request, double-check with staff when ordering to avoid mix-ups.
REPLY FOR YOUR RESPONSE : Gave the chutney upon request coz the first time re fill seemed unfair. yes my partner gave the fair review. so you wont respond to 5 star reviews from 2 different people who come together. because it will get you good review. posting 1 star from 2 different people who come together will trigger your review. Hence this response from you.
the food quantity was extremely disappointing for sure and i should have mentioned that earlier. The portion size seemed like kids food. you came to us only ONCE and asked if the taste was good , because we were the first ones to order MLA pesarattu ( you said that to us yourself) and you wanted to know how it was. other than that nobody came and asked how the rest of the food was.
we did not post fake review. we posted what we felt. This is the second time we came for dine in. first time experience was bad as well. however we did not post the review. And the same thing happened again and we did posted the review.
What do you mean re filled upon request? one of your server has told us we get one refill for free. when we asked for refill she gave which was still very less. and one of them dint even know what are the specials of the day. when we asked for pesarattu, she told us you dont have it. when we told her that it was in todays menu, she went back and checked it. Make sure your staff knows what are the specials of the day.
Are you are aware that the quantity you serve for the price we pay is unfair? How come one of your old reviewers has also mentioned about the quantity of sambar you give? Instead of feeling bad about the negative reviews, try to focus on the quantity and better customer service
To think it’s hidden in a plaza in Burlington!? Everyone should come here if they want great tasting South Indian Food.
And their idlis are lovely little clouds, soft and pillowy with every bite. Whether it’s the Plain Dosa, classic Masala Dosa, spicy Mumbai Masala Dosa, flavorful Mysore Dosa, or their melt-in-your-mouth Idly and Tawa Idly, each dish is consistently spot-on. The Paneer Manchurian brings a delightful Indo-Chinese twist that keeps things interesting. Rounding it all off is the irresistible South Indian filter coffee—a must-try for all caffeine fans.
This is one dosa destination where you can never go wrong with recommendations:
• Plain Dosa
• Masala Dosa
• Mumbai Masala Dosa
• Mysore Dosa
• Idly
• Tawa Idly
• Paneer Manchurian
• Filter Coffee
If dosa perfection is what you seek, look no further—your cravings end here, and your taste buds will be forever grateful.
I’ve lived in the Bay Area, California for 20 years — surrounded by famous South Indian restaurants. We even have Mylapore with its 200-person waitlist. But Shree Akshayam? It doesn’t just match that… it surpasses it ten times over.
As someone who is a proper South Indian food lover — born and raised in Chennai, spoiled with the best, most traditional home-style food — I can confidently say this is some of the most authentic and soulful food I’ve tasted outside of home. It brought back memories of Chennai breakfasts, temple-side tiffin stalls, and the kind of comfort only true South Indian cooking can give.
This food is so addictive that instead of heading to Niagara Falls, we came here for their weekend thali. I stayed for a week and ended up eating here almost every single day.
My absolute favorites:
1. Aloo Bonda – crisp, soft, nostalgic perfection
2. Super piping hot Medu Vada – honestly unmatched
3. Punugulu – fluffy, flavorful, irresistible
4. Andhra Kara Dosa – fiery, bold, unforgettable
But truly, everything is a must-try.
The owners make the place feel like home — warm, caring, and genuinely proud of what they serve. Even when we tried to compliment them, they humbly said, “Please enjoy it piping hot so the taste stays perfect.” That level of hospitality is rare.
If food, flavor, and heartfelt service matter to you, don’t look anywhere else.
Shree Akshayam is pure authenticity on a plate.
There are two areas that could really use some improvement. First, the vada is often undercooked, which has been a consistent issue during our visits. Second, the service tends to be quite slow. We completely understand waiting when food is freshly prepared and worth it, but sometimes we come here specifically because we don’t have time to cook and need a quicker meal.
We’re sharing this feedback because we truly like this place and would love to see these issues improved so the experience can match the great food.
