Shoyou Sushi is one of the most coveted sushi spots in Baltimore. Although we are small, our sushi rolls are truly larger than life. Chef Bruce maintains a high standard of fish selection, handpicking the freshest fish for his restaurant. He provides true passion and care for his sushi rolls, and has chosen humorous names such as the ‘Hot Night Baby’ Roll, ‘Who’s Your Daddy,’ and the legendary Japanese Burrito. He works alongside a team of a few hard-working employees who constantly work twice as hard to make up for the small team. Shoyou Sushi brings in a variety of customers from the Baltimore/DC area and maintains its reputation for the freshest premium fish in the area. In March 2018, we moved to a new and improved location,

Great Japanese restaurant! Menu has a very large selection of rolls and Makis. They also have great apps and salads. The Brest one was the burrito, it sounds strange but it was absolutely delicious!

Food:
The sushi here is so good. It’s some of the best I’ve had since moving to Baltimore. My favorite (so far) is the R (Roll) Lewis. The unagi and soft shell crab are also wonderful.
Service:
The server was attentive, never letting our water run out. Our food came out quickly, and the extra roll we ordered before we left arrived fast and packaged well.
Atmosphere:
We didn’t get to see the whole restaurant, as we sat near the entrance. The chair felt a bit uncomfortable. But other than that, the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting.

Ran across this as a suggestion while traveling & booyyyyy am I glad I came!!! They offered me a free taste test of their fatty tuna and it changed me as a person. So yummy. Fantastic service. Hope to be back!

We were just passing through Baltimore and decided to stop for dinner here since it was not far from the highway we were on. The atmosphere was casual but classy and comfortable. The wait staff was great too. They were friendly and helpful, without being overbearing. The food was delicious and was pleasantly more generous portions wise than were were expecting for a sushi restaurant. They had some very unique specialty rolls that we have never seen before, along with the typical and basic sushi roll options. Overall it was a lovely meal and experience. Highly recommend!

Easily some of the best sushi I’ve ever had! Everything tasted so fresh and delicious that I wished I had a bigger stomach. The unagi here is absolutely amazing and may have ruined all future unagi rolls for me. I’d also really like to highlight the baked mussels which had such a powerful punch of umami flavor to it. Packed on a weekday and for good reason. Service might have been a little slow but again PACKED and I saw like a dozen carry out orders while I was waiting. My only regret is not ordering more and then just getting a to-go box

I came all the way from Virginia to get the best sushi in DC area. I do not regret that I made decision to drive for an 1 hour to get lunch here. I am very satisfied with their quality and service. All dishes are so big that are difficult to gulp down;) which I love about! Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for very gooooood sushi!

Shoyou Sushi is the best in South Baltimore for fresh sushi. They do not take reservations but definitely get on the wait list and hang around, it’s worth the wait. Service is fast knowable on the menu including Sake.
I recommend starting with the calamari and edamame. For the rolls classic Spicy Tuna always hits the spot. Go for the Big Boss roll!

We heard about this place from 2 different people. The sushi is very delicious one of the best ever.
Adnan was our server, he’s very nice, patient and friendly. He gave us some suggestions and all were very good.
The place is very clean and bathrooms are very clean. We loved it and definitely will go back later again!

Ordered pickup through app ( spicy salmon and shrimp tempura special roll). Best sushi I’ve had in Baltimore. As a pregnant woman, my taste buds are picky – they were satisfied . Spicy Salmon was falling apart which was my only complaint but flavors were definitely there !
