Been to alot of Omakases and this place definitely is in my top 5! Fish quality was amazing. Great selection of sake. Service was also excellent. Would definitely come back to Shoyo. The restaurant is very intimate and they pay attention to each patron.

I’d like to give it more stars. No kidding, hands down our best dining experience. And we’ve eaten in some kick ass places. This was not a dinner. This was an experience. The recommendations for the sake, the education by the chef and the flavours of the food. Daaang!!!! This was deep. Loved it.

Had an AMAZING birthday celebration at Shoyo. The ambiance was on point, the service was A++++ and the food was melt in your mouth delicious! Everything was so fresh and Chef Jimmy was exceptional at his craftsmanship. Along with his crew, they displayed great attentiveness and hospitality towards the guests. Would love to experience this again!

I had high expectations for Shoyo given its reputation, but the experience ultimately felt mixed.

The biggest issue was the atmosphere created by the omakase chef. Early in the meal, I briefly used ChatGPT to identify some of the fish because the menu wasn’t explained in English equivalents beforehand. Instead of clarifying the pieces, the chef made two condescending remarks, including, “Why use AI when you have a chef here.” It came across as snarky rather than welcoming. Omakase is supposed to be educational and interactive, and if the intent is to discourage outside references, then proactively explaining each course would help avoid that situation. The tone made the rest of the dinner feel awkward for both me and my wife.

Food-wise, the courses were technically fine but not memorable. Several nigiri had uneven rice texture. some overly firm while others were softer, so consistency wasn’t there. One of the most disappointing moments was the uni, which was served with a cracker that completely overpowered its delicate flavor, defeating the purpose of highlighting the ingredient.

At the start, the chef mentioned he welcomed feedback, but when I respectfully shared mine, the response felt defensive: “I’ll let the head chef know, but I’m not the head chef.” It didn’t feel constructive or professional, especially in a high-end omakase setting where hospitality is as important as technique.

Overall, Shoyo delivers a competent omakase, but the lack of warmth, inconsistent rice execution, and absence of standout bites made it hard to justify the premium price. Service and guest interaction need improvement to match the level expected from this type of experience.

We loved our experience at Shoyo and absolutely will return. The fish quality is amazing, certainly one of the best in TX. Every course is well thought out and compliments each other. Even the ginger and soy sauce tasted great.

The atmosphere was delightful because the chefs and staffs were very engaging with the guests. We haven’t had an omakase experience that made us laugh this much before. We felt very welcomed and appreciated.

It is definitely a highend meal but I’m sure you will have a great time here.

If you’re looking for a Michelin style omakase in Dallas, this restaurant should be in your consideration. I stumbled upon this place on reddit and am glad I did.

The dinner consisted of 17 courses and was relatively interactive. Chef Jimmy did a great job at descriptions for each item and injected humor to diffuse the pretentiousness that can sometimes accompany fine dining.

You could truly see the chefs’ passion shine through while they prepared the dishes.

The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because, I wasn’t truly blown away. Simply having top-tier quality fish isn’t enough to set yourself apart anymore. I fully acknowledge this is easy for a reviewer like myself to say, yet difficult for establishments to follow through on.

All-in-all, still a fantastic experience.

I had such a great time at Shoyo in Dallas! Chef Jimmy Park is not only super talented but also really fun and entertaining, which made the whole evening even better. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the uni was hands down the best I’ve ever had – so creamy and rich! What I loved most was how Chef Jimmy explained everything about the fish, like where it came from and what makes it special. It made the meal feel more personal and made each bite taste even better.
The place is spotless, and the staff is so attentive. They kept everything clean, down to the tiniest crumbs, which gave me a lot of trust in the whole experience. Parking is valet, and the entrance is really low-key, so it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking carefully. But once you’re inside, it’s all about amazing food and great vibes.
If you’re into sushi and looking for a special night out, I’d totally recommend Shoyo!

Hands down the best omakase in Dallas. Took my parents for their first omakase experience and it was a 10/10. The staff and head chef really went above and beyond — they took such great care of us. We’ll definitely be back!

Amazing omakase, thoughtfully crafted with dish without taking away the authenticity of the fish. There are omakase places that do too much that you can’t really taste the actual fish itself which to me, takes away from the true art of omakase.
The ambience is a mix of traditional and relaxed. I’d pick this over a super stiff environment where I can’t even breathe loudly. A nice dinner consists of a great quality meal, nice intelligent friendly service and an atmosphere that is welcoming, classy and comfortable. I appreciate Shoyo and to me, it has been a Michelin starred worthy.
