I used to really love this place and I still do like it, their sandwiches are really good. I used to go there almost everyday I worked out in Barrington, though recently they changed the prices and now my favorite sandwiches are too expensive for me to have as often. It used to be a really good deal, but it’s harder to justify spending $11 on lunch every day I’m out there, for me personally. Still really good food though, and you get a lot for your money.

The only thing about this place that is even worth the time and effort is the manager. She is extremely nice and defiantly goes out of her way for the customers. She recommends how to have the sandwich and even which beer goes well with it. The beer was good but the sandwich was as boring as the decor. Not sure what happened to this place, it used to be so full of life and enjoyable. The old menu needs to come back, otherwise close your doors!

Always Great Big Amazing Sandwiches!
Editing my review. After the unfortunate passing of Roberta this place has gone down hill. The “Roberta” style sandwich is about 1/3 the size of what it used to be. $50 for 3 sandwiches and a cup of soup is no longer worth it at boloneys. This will be the last time I go here. It’s very unfortunate because this was one of my favorite places to go.

This is a quaint sandwich shop with character and history. The sandwiches are a great meal before watching a movie at the Catlow next door. Our family has enjoyed the wide variety and homemade goodness that Baloney’s has to offer. The seating is tight, but you can take it into the theater if you like. They will even bring it to you if you would like it delivered or at least the did in the past.

It has been many years since I ate here as I don’t live in Illinois. But when I have, the food was good, the portions were huge. (both the wife and I could share the Dagwood sandwich which was our favorite) A little small inside and short hours, but you could even take the food and sit next door in the theater.

Finally got the chance to bring my wife here for lunch the other day after having eaten here a couple times a year for the last several years while in the area for work. She loved the hot beef sandwich and loved the atmosphere of it being inside a historic movie theater. We split the sandwich since it’s massive and she was plenty full, even with her being pregnant. Love this place and will always come back whenever possible.

This used to be Baloney’s Sandwich Shop. Roberta owned it for the past 30 or so years, I’ve been going there that long… Roberta passed away & it was taken over by her husband & it went downhill from there – you used to get almost a half pound of meat on your sandwich, they were so big, most people couldn’t just take a bite… chances are you didn’t finish it either… service had gone down too. About a year ago he closes Baloney’s & reopened a few weeks later as Showtime Eatery… I haven’t been back & wont be back – I was that turned off by it.

Food has been getting better since they made some changes to the menu and added “The Best of Boloney’s” section, it is very similar food to the original Boloney’s, but some new stuff too.
Their hours are very confusing, google says one thing, there website says another and if you call them, they say another. I still don’t know the hours…
I hope they clarify the hours because I’ve shown up, with money in hand, excited to eat a sandwich and they are closed even when their google page says they are open.

Sadly, they’ve gone WAY downhill. I’ve been stopping at Boloneys for over 30 yrs now, in the last year or so things have changed a lot. I stopped this past Friday (9/29) as I heard that they would be closing… I was looking forward to one last hurrah, sadly it was not meant to be. I ordered a “large” Dagwood on an onion roll – no tomato. What I got was a lump of ham (only in the middle), a lump of turkey (same) & about 3 slices of salami, hardly any lettuce to speak of, no dressing at all & 3 thick slices of tomato on an onion roll that was probably all of an inch tall – before it was sliced so thin on the bottom that it just fell apart (kind of hard/messy to eat). And where was my pickle?? The girl who took my order acted as if it was a major imposition when she did so (I was the only one there just before 4pm).
On one hand I’ll be sorry to see them go, on the other hand – they’ve killed their own reputation – this used to be one of the best places to get lunch & was known for lines out the door at lunchtime.

Sandwiches were large and tasty, but have they ever heard of a dustcloth?? We sat right next to a framed movie poster (because it was the only table that didn’t look like it has smears on it) and I was afraid the accumulated dust would fall onto our food! Would have been rated much higher, but I felt it was filthy.
