Short fields has a laid-back, hometown feel with good comfort food! They have a bar with a happy hour and lots of TVs playing sports. Their staff was very kind. The food was fresh with huge portions.
I do agree with some of the other reviews that the establishment could use some updates. Our booth was incredibly tight and uncomfy for example. I was also disappointed to realize there was a 3 to 3.5% (I can’t remember the exact percentage) fee for using a card which seems crazy in 2024.

MOLDY BREAD! The bread that came with the shrimp and grits had mold spots on it. My fiancé ordered it and didn’t even realize until after we finished our meal. I requested to speak to a manager and the manager never came. Our server was very nonchalant and had a slight attitude. She didn’t apologize about the mold just said “ I’ll tell the cook” she came back and said “ they don’t think it’s mold but it definitely looks like mold “ still no manager. Anyone with eyes can tell that’s mold.

Went here with a larger group of family, which was reserved. The server was rude, the timing of the food serving was off causing half the party to be finished before the other half ate. Our steak came super overcooked and burnt. Understandable that a larger party would take time, but this establishment is not built for it.

Loved the variety of menu offerings. Ended up getting of all things, a patty melt. Those onions were grilled to perfection, rye bread was delicious, burger itself was just ok. Sweet potato chips were yummy, as were the fried oysters. We’ve had the salmon before, it’s really good. Tea brined chicken & waffles were an interesting taste. Great value for the price.

Little corned beef and it was tasteless, no sauce to speak of or so little that it couldn’t be tasted! Very greasy!

Table for 7- One thought, terrible experience and will probably be my last.
We have been to Shortfields many times and each time it seems like their standard is dropping. The food is average, but tonight’s experience might be my last ever.
We were there at our table for over 2hrs. Over an hour to get our food, no real communication from the restaurant during the experience. Drinks constantly went empty. But hey I get it, I’ve worked in the industry in my history as well, things happen, servers can’t control the kitchen, but… What I don’t get is the manager never came to our table for apologies, insights or anything. I am not a I should get free stuff but I am a person that you should want my business again and they clearly did not act like that tonight. The icing on the cake was not only keeping the 20% tip on my check (which I get it, it’s in their menu that they do that) but don’t hand me my check and act like everything went fine. Very disappointed in the customer service tonight.
