I wanted to try a different place that had that comfort food I love. I was wary when I read the reviews because it said there was a long wait time for food. I sifted through some reviews and they were mixed so I tried an attempt to see for myself. We were seated quickly and it appeared that a lot of people were leaving from the breakfast crowd to the 11 o’clock lunch crowd. It was a Saturday and I heard them say a large group had just left. I assume that’s where the wait came from. But I set a timer from the time the surfer took our order to the time the food came and it was 38:10. So if you are in a hurry this might not be the best option. However when the food arrived it was enjoyable and it was all good. However the stuffing I think was fried and I prefer it soft and moist. But that just may be a preference thing. The rolls were good and everything else was satisfactory. We weren’t in a hurry so the wait didn’t bother us but the place is busy and that usually means they are good. Worth a shot but might want to avoid peak hours. The place was decorated nicely and they already had the Christmas displays up. It felt homey. No real complaints and would eat here again

Perfect place with wonderful people working it. The food is really good.
Is pretty pricy, not including tip, over $40 for a Turkey and gravey, a lunch special hot ham and cheese, 2 drinks and 1 trip eat to salad bar. (I thought it said a salad included on my lunch special and yes, I was there between 11-2.)
But, they are so nice and the food is so good that I am sure we will be back sometime!if you haven’t been, you most definitely should go!

Shonets was good. Passing thru the area and was recommended by front desk. Had the salad bar and soup. It was 20 min before closing and they were both ok. The salad bar was good, one round was plenty. I had open face turkey sandwich, grilled chicken salad was good. Kids spaghetti was enjoyed. Graham cracker pie was really good.

The location is easy enough to find and there’s plenty of free parking. Only maybe 2 or 3 miles from the interstate exit.
I was there maybe an hour and a half from closing time, but everything on the menu was still available. I was disappointed that I had to be seated by the bathroom. Next time I’ll have to keep in mind to request against that, since the bathroom is busier than the salad bar.
I thought the salad bar looked fresh. The soup menu was tempting as well. Chili, vegetable and cactus was on offer. Serve said cactus was the chili with corn added.
I decided to order pork chops, fried potatoes and macaroni and cheese. I also chose cornbread over roll and a slice of peanut butter pie for dessert. My order was ready pretty quickly, but at the time, more were going than coming.
Overall, the food was pretty good. If I had to say there were a weak link, it’d be the fried potatoes, they weren’t bad at all just lackluster compared to how good everything else was, especially the cornbread. I started with a Pibb, but had to switch to root beer cause the Pibb didn’t taste right somehow. My bill after taxes and city fees, was $22 and change. I hate to spend that much honestly, but I don’t eat out at diners every day for that reason. And I wasn’t hungry after I left, the portions are just right.
The decor was very fall festive mixed with country. Country kitchen type menus are what I like most. When I get back, I’m going back for the turkey dinner, my favorite. Whenever you’re near Milton and in the mood for something special, give Shonets a try. You’ll be glad you did.

I have only had hot food served to me one time in all these years I’ve been eating here. I have not figured out why my meal is always barely warm whether they are busy or slow! I have no idea where my waitress was most of the time as I rarely saw her out on the floor. Maybe that’s the reason food first come out of the kitchen very fast. Food is tasty but never hot so it’s ice cold by the time you finish.

I have been here a couple of times lately and I get the fried fish basket which is terrific. My wife got the chicken liver dinner and she gives it a , she especially like the light breading on the fried livers
We went with a large group and the back room can seat about 20 people but you need to call and reserve the room.

Service was extremely slow. Was told they quit serving breakfast already, when we arrived at 10:15am. Found out why when our order wasn’t taken until 10:45 (they stop serving breakfast at 10:30). Portions are large and very affordable. Some food was great. Most was average. Not a great first impression.

I had heard great things about this place but was pretty underwhelmed today. Took a while to get seated – several people who came in after us were seated sooner, a table for 5 (that we needed) was given to a couple. Seemed to be no coordination among employees. The hostess also made it kind of clear that she didn’t want to be there. Servers neglected my drink order and just brought me water like everyone else at the table (was going to order something else). Food was average to good overall. Not at all bad, but I’ve had college food court meals that were just as good. Cornbread was flavorless and dry. Also neglected to bring us our go boxes. They were busy when we were there, but lots of busy restaurants have things together a bit more. Not an awful experience, but so many other places in the area that I’ll definitely plan on other places in the future. Was also disappointed that breakfast stopped being served so early in the day, especially on a weekend. As much as I love to support the little guy, 90% of my trips to Bob Evans have been better. I could overlook any 1-2 of the things I mentioned but put them all together and it made for a subpar experience. I didn’t really see what all the fuss was about regarding this place.

We were passing through town and found this restaurant. I got the grilled chicken over rice and my husband got the meatloaf and onion rings and said it was very good. The chicken was pressed down and dry and rather tasteless. The dinner rolls were good but cornbread was bland. It probably would have helped if we had butter instead of vegetable oil spread that tasted awful. I will say that our waitress was very pleasant and served us well.

I’ve ate here several times sit down in restaurant. This time I ordered to go. Ordered the fried chicken, Mac cheese, peas cornbread. They said it would take a while on the chicken, I knew that and was fine with it. Because I knew it would be hot.
Well, the chicken was ok and it was hot. The peas were dried up and some were hard as rocks, they were so nasty looking (i couldn’t believe they were even serve them looking like that)! The mac cheese was not good i think it came out of a box and you could tell it had been sitting for a while. So I couldn’t eat either the peas or Mac cheese! Will never get an order to go again. The times I’ve ate inside it has always been good! Except one time they over cooked the pork chops but you are there and can let them know then and they can fix the problem. My daughter couldn’t believe i liked them because they’ve had bad experiences there and won’t go there anymore.
You would think they would want the to go ordered to be good so the people will come back!
